went for a round today and as i walked up to the 5th green i notice a club left by the side of the bunker.. turns out to be a ping g5 9 iron..

At end of my round i handed it in at the club shop..

Would you have done the same or bagged it??

yep i mean would you keep it!!

Reason i ask is the pro said that a few people have asked in shop about clubs they have left at side of bunkers/greens and no one has handed them in!!

I always hand things in.Regardless of what they are..If the situation was reversed i would hope that someone would do the same for me.

Given how often I manage to leave a wedge / 9 iron next to a green after chipping from close range, I would hope you never even consider 'bagging' a club you find. Golf is supposed to be an honourable game :D

My 8 iron vanished at the driving range, think the pro had taken it out.
Anyways could i find another on ebay, not a sniff.

So i would have been most grateful if it was handed in, ended
up buying a set of Mizunos.

i never intended on keeping it i was just asking the question on what you would do, obviously expecting you all to say you would hand it in..

I was thinking that if it was my club i would hope that someone would hand it in!!

Thats like asking are you honest or are you a thief.
Im astonished you even thought there was some dishonest people on here

I would never dream of keeping someone elses golf club no matter what it was. I have found a couple in my time and like you just hand it in at the end of the round. I left my 8 iron recently at a driving range and was very suprised it did not get handed in (cost me £55 for a replacement from america.)

I just can't immagine what goes on in a fellow golfers head that would keep a club especially part of a set. Ok I could see the thinking if it's a nice shiney new wedge or putter but what are they going to do with my 8 iron? (I do have a suggestion or two). It has not changed my thinking though I will still hand in every club I ever find.

Ah, bless. It's a PING club - the owner probably dropped it, wanted to pick it up but his dodgy back, double replacement hips and bunions meant that he couldn't.

You did the right thing.

As someone who has left a SW green side and gotten back to the clubhouse to find it, I would definitely return the favour given the chance.

With it being a Ping did you look in the bushes, some poor old fogey was probably having a wazz or something, bladder weakness and incontinence is a problem for most Ping owners.
To answer your question though any so called golfer who bags a found club deserves a damn good thashing IMO.

Maybe he has mild dimensia or Altzheimers and was leaving a trail of irons so he could find his way back to the club house.

At the range the other day I walked out to get a distance reading from a few shots I'd hit - the range was empty apart from me.
Trod on something metallic - a Ping Eye2 7 iron head complete with 1/2 inch of broken shaft - might have been there for years but I handed it in at the shop just in case.

However, if I found a brand new Vokey.............  :p :p :p

Always take them and hand them in. Though i do wonder about how people leave them.. Routine for me is to chip then lay the iron onto the pin once youve taken it out. Cant possibly forget it then!
