Struck a shot with my 6 iron off the tee today and it snapped in half! The club head end went flying into the woods. Never had that happen before.
Anyway. A second hand club is £30-40 online. Anyone know how much it costs to get a new shaft fitted at American Golf? Or is it better going to a club pro shop?

How old is the club? Have you contacted the EOM to investigate a replacement if it's pretty new?

It's better to go to a decent pro shop but probably more expensive than buying the 2nd hand club. Shafts vary, assuming it is steel then anything from £10 upwards plus a new grip then the fitting charge. A decent steel shaft can easily be £30-50. What is in the rest of your irons?

If a replacement is only £30-40 then probably cheaper. Shaft would be around £30 min plus grip and fitting.

They’re quite old but still in decent nick. Mizuno JPX 800 irons. i really like them. Sounds like it’ll be cheaper to buy a second one than reshaft it. Or maybe I’ll just play without a 6 iron until I justify a replacement.

Any one of your friends or at your club that does club-making/repair as a hobby? It's not that hard to replace a shaft.

I play at a municipal course mostly by myself. So the short answer is no. I’d give it a go myself though if it was doable without a machine.

Also, it seems to be one of those weeks. The other day I dropped my brand new putter….without its headcover…onto a concrete path. Now she’s got a few scratches 😭

What is the shaft?
I have got various ex demo 6 iron shafts kicking around the place.
There are various YouTube videos showing how do do it for yourself.
As to pro cost I would expect it to be £40+ these days.
Personally I would go to a proshop.

If it’s a steel shaft you don’t need any machines, just a heat gun/blowtorch and a pair of gloves.

JPX800 are 0.355 hosel bore (I literally just took a set down from my attic tonight)

Shaft is a dynamic gold xp r300.
I’ll have a look on YouTube. It’s my go to place for diy instruction anyway.

Seeing Greginfife's link double check you read the label correctly

I have a Mizuno Dynalite Gold XP R300 (not sure if this a 7 iron shaft though)
or
TT Dynamic Gold Lite R300 as the nearest to that (originally from a Mizuno but grip changed).

The Dynamic Gold XP was the replacement shaft for the Dynamic Gold Lite
