FIFA 12 Demo...

I'm getting the hang of the defending a bit more. Although I'm still not impressed that the competer just reads what your doing and walks through you at times.

I'm undecided on what console to buy it for though yet but if I go PS3, i'll be up for some online stuff

WHat level is everyone playing on... honestly!

I was playing on World calss, now on legendary. Not a lot of difference but man, its frustrating me.

I do prefer the new system, but can I hell make room for a shot. Everytime I work a space in or around the box and let fly, they seem to wait to long for a tackle or a block.

Defending is also frustrating. Holding contain is pretty boring in all honesty, eventually it almost always breaks down, but on the odd occasion they get through and you have to make the tackle, they will not go close enough and end up diving in. Grrrr!

Playing on professional simply because I cannot score on world class. Used to dominate teh old game on legendary but defending was so easy and getting possession back so simple that I'd have lots of opportunities to create chances to score. I think once I get the full game and can play a season with the Hammers I'll get the hang of it.

Personally I love the realism, it feels more like football where you have to pull players out of poistion to create the space.

It bugs me though that even with the likes of Barca, players wont make the 5-10 yard runs into space to allow you to work the ball around your opposition.

I know yoiu can trigger runs but they just run forward in straight lines untill they are offside. Thats what bugged me about the last one.

The computer does it against you. You can't be expected to control 10 players off the ball.

World class and legendary on the demo? are you on ps3? on the xbox it just gives you an option at the start beginner, intermediate, expert?

The problem they have making this gameis everyone will say its unrealistic, so they make it realistic and containing teams in defence and people moan its too hard and wont want to play it. They get stuck in a very unusual position as end of the day it is all about sales.

I can see playing online games will finish very high scoring as people wont be bothered with defending but against the computer it will be a good job getting a result on the hard game modes.

Good observation JAM. I have no issues with the realism etc. I think its a fantastic game and the defending is much better.

My only gripe is the movement off the ball when you are in possesion. They could do more to drag defenders away, make overlapping runs, bend runs. Come close and then run away making space, loosing there markers etc. PES ahve started it, why can't FIFA?

Alot of effort has gone into the new impact engine and it is reall very good, but the AI for attacking is the same as last years, which was really frustrating!

Tony I disagree to a point. Whilst players making runs and pulling people out of position would be nice it would possibly make the game too easy as space would be created for you. I like the fact that I have to work the ball around the park and pull people out of position using my passing and movement and then bang hit them on the overlap.

It's still bloody hard but give me a realistic simulation where I have to work for a result. Last years version took me three seasons to turn West Ham into Champions League winners!!!! That's ridiculous and shortens the longevity of career mode.

Jammag by default those three options at the beginning generally equate to amateur / professional / world class difficulty settings

Tiger, I see your point. BUT... In real life, the better teams are better at creating the space for the man off the ball. You can't control players off the ball. Yes you can give and go but that means you have to play a trough ball more often that not or ignore his run.

If you ignore the run, they keep going till they are off side, no one else occupies the space they leave.

I dunno, I guess I need to learn how to play FIFA and stop trying to play football!

Ah right fair enough thought I had missed something to change the level.

It would be nice if they made better runs as you say but would make the game a bit easy. Remember how when the 1-2 button got worked properly and would only take a while to master it to make massive gaps behind and you would be 1 on 1. If they can get people to defend properly then you may find that next year they will develop the more attacking side of the game. I suppose they see it as the game was fairly high scoring as it was so improve the defending to make games tighter than develop more goal scoring opportunities later on.

Totally agree with you. Last year I'd keep trying speculative passes because it was so easy to get the ball back and try again. This year however you really have to look after the ball and create space. I only hope that the new collision system creates a more realsitic career mode as I'd get one serious injury a season and that was it. It meant you could play the game with a bare bones squad because you never got suspended and never got injured.

Cracked it. Play as Arsenal drop Song to the bench with Walcott. Play Fabregas as defensive midfielder Nasri CAM, Arshavin left mid and Gervinho on the right. Give Djourou the heave ho and bring Koscielny in. Not lost a game yet and creating lots more scoring chances. Think it's because the gunners play fast on the break and Wilshere and Fabregas are ace passers from deep :)
