whats your thoughts on it?

im a mess at the back, the new tactical defending is going to take a good while to get to grips with,

attacking is sweet, feels and looks more realistic better runs from players and the shooting is great,

your thoughts?

Exactly the same as you mate. The new defending is so different it's definitely going to take time to master. I like the idea of it though because it means you have to actually time your tackle and can't just go in holding A/X and come away with the ball. Definitely feels more like football.
Shooting is great, feels like the players give it a real thump.

I'm not so convinced... yet.

+ Graphics = Awsome.
+ Impact Engine = Better
+ Game flow = Smoother

- Passing = Nothing New
- Through balls - Still frustrating
- Player runs/movement - Still frustrating/nothing new

The tactical defending is a great idea, but its damn hard work. Computer seems to be able to rip you open at will and then read your every move in advance at the other end.

Been playing 360 version tonight, just D/L PS3... see if there is any difference

interesting you say about the through balls I thought this was greatly improved noticed on 1 2s that the player plays it into the gap rather than directly at the player and generally plays a decent ball in. theres never going to be much you can do with passing.

Tactical defending is quite hard not to just jump in, what I have worked on is getting the right place to jockey someone and generally they dont come forward they turn and go backwards or sidewards. Quite a boring waiting game as such but its as realistic as it comes as rarely you see end to end games. Chipping the goalkeeper is more realistic when in a 1on1 situation its more a dink over rather than the normal lob. plus if you get it right its easier to go round the keeper where as before it was virtually impossible.

Once you reconfigure the buttons defending really isn't that much different. Change standing tackle to A, teammate jockey to X and it's not a million miles from every other year.

Its made it better due to 90% of people who played just used the pressure button constantly. Now they have taken that away where it only goes up to a few paces away from them and no closer it makes you use the other ways of defending. I like the shoulder barge/shirt pulling button as this is a realistic game choice that people use and do it too much you get pulled up for it.

Just noticed that in the options you can change the tactical defending to legendary defending.. the old way.

I find it frustrating that instead of passing around oppo players, they just pass straight at them. Through balls are crap. I have had so many 2 on 1's and when the through ball is give, its given to the defender.

Plus if you play a pass and then trigger a run, they carry on running into an offisde position if you dont give it back straight away, just like the last one.

The computer seems to get away with alot of balls over the top for its self, but if you try it, they just knock it to the last defenders head.

TonyN, for through balls, try holding the through ball down for longer - gives the pass more power. Makes the player pass it past the defender/keeper into the path of your on-running player.

couldnt disagree more!!!

fifa 11 i was mostly sucessfull againest mates, so far on fifa 12 and the new defending they have clicked with it and i havent resulting in me getting spanked lol

I'm not saying ive won all my games, its just more fun because you can actually run at them and take them on. If they dive in, your past them, like real life. On the old one, Messy Ronaldo Nani Young Bale Walcott were all as good at dribbling as Bramble Hibett Oshea Carracgher etc with the pressure buttons applied.

Getting used to the new system a bit, but I still think on Legendary the computer is just reading what you are doing and making the right moves everytime. I haven't scored an Arsenal goal once.

Right played it and love the new defending system. Before it was so easy to get the ball back but now you have to contain, time your tackles right bring other people to help. Excellent. It's also trickier to score. Before I could zip it around to create an opening but now you do need a little flare or a perfectly weighted through ball. For the first time ina long time I'm utter pap at a football game and very happy about it. Who's on PS3 and up for a GM Forum league?

Nice touch. Djorou injured and Marseille attack and Djorou is playing Valbuena onside. The ref blows Djorou goes off and then there's a drop ball and the ball gets played back to Marseille.
