Exceptional Scoring Reduction ?

Incorrect initial handicap, which would appear to be the case, is also Clause 23.

There was no argument from me on that. I was pointing out that, without knowledge of the subsequent developments to his handicap, a 7-stroke reduction after 2 non-qualifiers would, on the face of it, be a massive knee-jerk reaction.

My handicap has just been adjusted with the addition of an ESR. Won a comp a few weeks ago shooting nett 65 (when off 21), so went down to 18. Played in my first competition since then, and shot nett 66, so got taken to 16.1, however, the additional ESR has knocked a further 2 shots off, so I am down to 14.1 now. That's my yearly target achieved....!

sounds excellent all round - well done!

I think what this has highlighted is that there are clubs around the country that are not carrying out the correct procedures for handicap maintenance.

I've read this with interest as I've got to evaluate one of our Juniors who's come out of the starting blocks to a flying start this year. having read the handbook, I know what he will receive by way of an additional cut. If I'd read some of the statements on here first I'd be wielding a large axe and chopping him (incorrectly) well down.

The handbook has to be read and understood otherwise the system will be abused as may be the case in some of the posts on this thread.

But, from the subsequent results, not enough! Probably looked pretty obvious after 2 NQ events that the initial allocation was wrong, but maybe, like you, the powers that be also thought a 7 shot reduction was pretty massive.

As an aside, the scorecard info on your club website is rather strange.

that's what the linked too scorecard shows but, as rosecott has picked up the headline web page has a typo...I'm sure you will get it fixed!

Slightly dodgyily or nor, it appears that GolfSaint is playing off a realistic handicap now.
Isn't that what really matters..?
