It happened on Wednesday.
The sun was shining, I was enjoying paid time off work & had been invited to enjoy a free round in the company of family & friends at Carden Park, on the Nicklaus course....what could go wrong.
In a word EVERYTHING.
Having played most weekends this year I was making steady progress towards a solid swing and sensible decision making on the course. Imagine my surprise when I found I could not hit the ball in a straight line. Out of nowhere I was shanking the ball at 90 degree to where I was aiming. To my credit I was consistent and repeated this feat at leats 4 or 5 times.
I was horrified, my game fell a part and I battled my way to the 18th, smiling through gritted teeth and hoping my fellow players were not too distracted by my complete collapse.
I couldn't sleep that night.
Do I get back on the horse or have a couple of weeks down time to take stock and remember why I love this game.
Answers on a postcard please
