Etiquette on away courses

Members aren't angels either, you can always tell if the seniors have been out by their skiddy little pitch marks :o

I think you forget that seniors run the ball in, not fly it all the way. They don't make pitch marks. Apart from the hitting of drivers into par threes. That's a given.

Again "Oi" 190 yard par 3 at Blackmoor today, into the breeze = 4 iron to 6ft and a birdie!

No matter what course I play I always replace divots if I take any and repair a couple of pitch marks on the greens just to use my pitch mark repairer as I never hit the green with my ball :) I do it aswell for the good feeling it gives me knowing that the guy behind me may have a put on the line I've just repaired for him. Hopefully one day the favour will be returned. It's not hard.

Fully agree

We have a good deal amount of members who feel it's beneath them to repair pitch marks , fill in divots on the tee and even rake a bunker.

This forever baffles me...... I just don't get why some members of a members club act this way. These are often the ones complaining in the bar at the state of the course. I'm sure I someone the other week play three shots in the same bunker, then just climb out and walk off.

its people who do not look after the course that really wind me up, if you dont rake a bunker, or do a half assed job of it then chances are the next person will have a terrible lie and make their shot 10x harder.

Its really not hard to repair pitchmarks, divots and rake bunkers

I'm usually pretty OCD about repairing pitch marks. If i see one, even if it's not mine, I have to sort it out.

If I'm playing with someone who doesn't repair them I'll usually comment 'Would you like me to repair that for you ?'. they usually get the message.

Honesty there is no excuse not to.

We do have a bit of problem at my place. Similar to above. Some members think it's beneath them and it's what the green staff are for.

It's when you draw their attention to their pitchmark on the 5th green and they ask to borrow your fork.
Why don't they have one in their pocket?

First tee- into pocket go ball, tees and fork.

I know what you mean.

The starter at my last place used to ask to see your repair tool before he'd let you tee off. Which I thought was a good idea.

I agree, great idea. I would also like to see the pro shop handing out plastic pitch mark repairers when guests pay their green fees. Surely a box of them cannot be that expensive. Maybe even a little reminder at the time of paying to repair pitch marks and replace divots etc.

I think the Disney courses give them out on first tee.
