Peed off with the weather so I wnet and had a driver fitting session on a full range etc.

Not sure what to make of it now.....
Started off with my current X460 and the typical faded shape. Firmly established that i needed regular flex at best for starters. Tried Nike, TM's, Mizuno's, drwa bias, movebale weights etc etc. Some good some less so.

Then... i got to try a Cobra Speed LD M with offset and 12 degree loft. WOW! what a club, long, straight and true, no matter what swing I put on it. It was fantastic.

To be honest I was so impressed with the results that I didn't even pay that much attention to the spec on the club, part ex' mine, paid the difference and collected a dozen PTS roll balls up along the way and headed home happy :D.

I have just been looking at the COBRA website and noticed that the driver of my dreams, the longest, starightest ball flight I have ever produced is actually in the SENIORS loft and flex, and i'm not 37 until next month. :(

For a brief moment I thought there must be some mistake and they'd given me the wrong club. It was however the very same club I'd used on the range and i hadn't taken my eyes off it.

Still it does show that results will speak for themselves and to have an open mind and no preconceived ideas you will find what suits you.

Now where's my pipe, slippers and walking stick???

Thanks for that TWM.

As the other posts have said, as long as it works why worry??

In all reality i now accept i'll never again be a long hitter and the only comfort I can take is in accuracy over distance. 200 yards down the middle is better than 230 in the crap, isn't it?

Anyway due to the rain, yet again, I am yet to make a swing in anger, but as soon as I do I will feedback.

Thinking of taking tueday morning off as it's seniors comp' at the club. If i show them my driver they may let me enter. :D

That is the attitude you have to have with CF, otherwise there is no point.

Just out of curiosity what was your club head speed and what kick point is the shaft?

To be honest Tony I have no idea! Previoulsy I have focused too much on all the technical stuff, launch angles, spin rates, kick points etc etc and tried to make a type of shaft or flex work for me even if it wasn't the best, i think that's called ego.

This time I just wanted a club that worked and gave me the best results no matter what. Therefore the fitter didn't tell me anything about the clubs he was giving me other than the resulting distance + dispersion. Made no mention of flex, loft, bias, weights at all. I was more than happy with this and the results speak for themselves. After all I know if he'd of mentioned it was a senior model before I used it i would never of been comfortable hitting it from the start.
The club produces a wonderfully high flight and really tight dispersion. Manage to carry 210m yards which is the same as my old X460 - just a lot straighter.

Having looked at the shaft a bit more it just seems to be a lighter model which is meant to allow more speed I believe. The offset helps my swing plane and the 12 degree loft helps fight side spin.

So far I'm happy as a pig in ...t

John.

"for now :D"

What ever do you mean by that Tony???

Hope there's no suggestion that I'm fickle and liable to change equipment at a moments notice :D

(have you been speaking to my regular partners by chance??) :D
