drenched and walked in after 9 (we weren't the only ones)

Just in from a round at Rosemount. Glorious sunshine for most of the round and a wee bit overcast for the rest. Not quite shirt sleeve weather yet but the course is looking good.

I was caddy for our Daily Mail match and can't recall when I have been wetter and colder - swimming in the North Sea may have been more comfortable.

Date. Friday 23rd April 2010.
Place. Spey Valley Golf Course.

Possibly the coldest, wettest, most miserableist day that I have ever spent on a golf course. The day before the forum meet at Castle Stuart and it sleeted all day, never got above 1 degree and despite winning our match, I never want to play in crap weather like that again.

Didn't even get out of the clubhouse! Had arranged a friendly knock with Leftie, Richart and Richarts mate Jeremy, tee was booked for 11.12. Light drizzle in Bexhill when I left home at 9.15, getting progressively worse as I drove inland to the course. By the time I got there it was blowing hard and chucking it down.
Low rain cloud made it "one of those days" in Crowborough, and at times you couldn't see the end of the heather off the 1st tee. Had a pot of tea, a sandwich and a natter in the clubhouse in the vain hope that it would blow through, but it was getting worse if anything. Decided to give it a miss and all headed off in different directions home. The drive back to Bexhill was really bad, it was absolutely throwing it down...if nothing else, it convinced me that we had made the right decision. Poxy day.....

I don't blame you Rob.

Oh it was snowing at Hindhead, and temp dropped to zero.:(

I saw the weather forecast and so my day has consisted of

Newcastle v Sunderland
Tigers V Gloucester
France V Ireland
Saracens V Newcastle

All accompanied by plenty of hot cups of tea. My wife has been out all day so having the sport on undisturbed has been heaven. Once the rugby is over it will be on to wathcing the golf. Loving a lazy Sunday.

That does sound like the next best thing to getting a game of golf, a Rory victory would finish off a nice days viewing.

We stuck it out, teemed down all the way, thank you footjoy, stayed as dry as possible, clubs got soaked tho no way to keep grips dry, just bought a ping bag, not the best day to try it out.
Good luck with the ping bag, if it is a 4 under then you would be better carrying your gear in a teabag, they let less water in. My gear is soaked again, it'll take until next weekend to dry the bag out.

Hear, Hear to that, definitely the coldest I've ever been on a golf course! I played with Stevek against a couple of John Findlay's crew, one of whom was a local lad and turned up in shorts and a sweater FFS!!! I asked him if he was going to be ok as we sat huddled in the groundsmans hut waiting to go out he said "oh aye, I don't feel the cold!"

By the 12th I thought he was going into hyperthermia! He felt it that day alright!

Lied in until 10.00 when HID rudely interrupted my slumber with bacon sarnies and tea. Flicked through the tv channels, got up, watched Newcastle v Sunderland, the might Fulham and then Man Utd. HID has been making home made butternut squash soup so polished a bowl off for my lunch and she conjoured up home made cottage pie tonight. Not stepped out of the house. Definitelty beginning to think Smiffy is a raingod

We had a Stableford qualifier today, we were towards the end of the pack and we were surprised it hadn't been abandoned already. The greens were all waterlogged and most of my shots were lost on the green. We kept soldiering on waiting to hear the horn, but nothing.

Only managed 28 points, but after making some swing changes I was hitting long irons really well, 3/4 par 3's hit from the tee sadly no 2's due to the water. Towards the end it started the sleet so hands were frozen, I was wet and cold..

My umbrella kept getting blown off my clicgear brolley holder which was a pain!!

Oh well, nice to get out I suppose.

Smiffy probably thought you had given up playing because of that injury you were on about the other day.

:confused::confused:

We have had fantastic weather in the Sunny Highlands the last few weeks.

Played Sat and Sun in bright sunshine, 15 deg at Nairn on Sat and 10 or 12 at Tain yesterday. There were guys playing in short sleeves both days.

I did see a couple of English Girls from the Curtis cup squad waiting to play and having a practice putt on Saturday lunchtime, Dresses like it was arctic winter :)

The guys around them wearing short sleeves, one even had shorts on;)
