Sure, but as golfers and sentient beings we all know there's a moral difference between NRing after a bad hole, and effectively DQing yourself by not returning the card. And Arthur has touched upon the fact his club punishes people for this. Unfair to punish for the first scenario, fair enough on the second.See post 25 for the definition of DQ.
It isn't defined based on emotions, it is defined in black and white in the Rules (or black and a bluish navy in this case)
However, in some forms of stroke play, not finishing a hole is a dq under the Rules of golf.To DQ (or sanction) someone for not finishing a hole is a joke. I try and score every round but on the odd occasion where I’ve lost a ball when I thought it would be fine, I would not return to the tee and risk holding the field up, I’d pick up.
That's the issue, is it not, at Arthur's club? By punishing golfers from posting 3 NRs, and the software incorrectly publishing an NR rather than DQ when a golfer reasonably fails to score on a hole(s), then golfers could be unfairly punished.Sure, but as golfers and sentient beings we all know there's a moral difference between NRing after a bad hole, and effectively DQing yourself by not returning the card. Yeah, and it's insane to punish players for that.To clarify NR it not just about not returning a score card
That’s not what a NR is
NR is also not returning a score in a single or multiples and in medal play that means a DQ from the competition - the ISVs in the main don’t put DQ next to the score but NR instead but you are still actively DQ from the Comp
Rule 3.3c in Golf
Yeah, and it's insane to punish players for that.
The frequency also depends on the frequency which you play competitions.Depends on the circumstances and the frequency
If it’s the odd occasion then nothing with happen
Is it an automatic dq? Does it not just mean that you can’t win anything. To clarify NR it not just about not returning a score card

It is a DQ, yes.Is it an automatic dq? Does it not just mean that you can’t win anything.
Not as serious as a breach of an on course rule or signing for too low a score on a hole.
WD is generally reserved for discontinuance for genuine reasons during the round, e.g. injury, illness, etc. Some Committees use WD, withdrew. I recognize that it’s all about “appearance”, WD is less contentious than DQ. Where did NR come from in the first place?

We used WD for when someone has started the round has had to leave the club due either injury or emergency etcSome Committees use WD, withdrew. I recognize that it’s all about “appearance”, WD is less contentious than DQ. Where did NR come from in the first place?
Deal with them then.
Don’t punish everyone.!
If you have three DQ ask the player why ?
If he has a reasonable excuse all good.
We had 28 NRs and 10 DQd on sat.
It does quote why the DQ mostly “ no card”
We use IG.
Yes we don’t return the cards physically. It does quote why the DQ mostly “ no card”
Now that does invoke disciplinary procedures where I play.
Yes we don’t return the cards physically.
We upload the signed card photo to IG after inputting the scores.
