I started playing using yards in UK but switched to meters after a few years when I moved overseas because my cart partners were mostly using metres

It doesn't really matter to me what the scorecard uses because i never use that for my shot distance so that wouldn't influence me in any way

What do you use & could/would you switch if the UK finally went metric ?

I use yds as that's what most golf courses I play are measured in and I have grown familiar. At my age I would be unlikely to change.
Use metric for other things such as weight and temperature.

Went to Australia twice in the 1990s.
Had to use 10% adjustment to convert to yards in my head.
It would not take me long to fully adjust and cease converting, if I went there permanently.
Same would apply if UK courses switched to metres.

Having lived in Spain I'd love to see us go fully metric - although I accept it won't ever happen. It's a much better and more accurate way of measuring - even simple things like motorway junctions being the kilometre measurement rather than a junction number - so if you need to go from junction 123 to junction 223, you know it's 100kms.

Maybe instead of bothering with rollback we just go to measuring in metres and just knock 10% off the distance number.

First time I played abroad in France I naively assumed everywhere in golf used yards and wondered why my shots were way short 😂

Not sure why it is 'better or more accurate' Accuracy is a function of the method of measurement rather than the unit of measurement. Better is a qualatative judgement and for the purposes of golf shots I cannot for the life of me see why one is 'better' than the other.

Metric is better because is is simpler to use, which inherently makes it more accurate.

For golf alone, it is neither here nor there, but if we had to choose between imperial and metric generally, I'd ditch imperial measurements tomorrow.

Like I have said before I use yards....have my range finder set to yards so no big deal.

Does put my playing partners off when I say it is 165 yards, and the 150 meter marker is next to me.

Think getting old helps me play with peoples minds.

Yards, but take the first two numbers if we've got meters and add it on for a quick conversion to yards when we're abroad. Nice and easy.

I've always used yards but have no problem adjusting. My wife has always used metres.

One of the guys (18-20 handicapper) who used to play in our group used yards but almost always came up well short with his approach shots - it took us a little over a year to discover that he had his rangefinder set to metres!

Golf is yards still.
Random - have those gps trackers for a couple of the dogs. For imperial setting, distance covered is in miles but dog proximity is always in feet. So they are now set to metric as I can visualise 50M better than 164 feet.

I use yards

I started playing when there were no such things as yardage charts and at the time I produced my own based upon walking distance. Back then I used to think my steps were one yard.

I have always based my shots on iron numbers rather than actual yardage in the belief that I am not that accurate and with 15 yards between each club iron selection was very easy.
