There was lots of lobbying to put the calendar up as a sticky and there are a lot of events already being planned for 2011 (Beau, Cooden etc). Can someone please update as we go. I'm looking to arrange the Ascot day (or maybe somewhere else) but need to know what sort of gaps are free so we can get the maximum number attending and it doesn't cripple anyone financially

In which case can we put these on. I think it would help a lot and could encourage forum members (and stop them asking for reminders) if they have a definitive diary to refer to. No point having the calendar there if no-one is going to update it

Homer if you are looking for another course, i would be happy to get involved in arranging at Blackmoor. Just a thought.

Cheers mate I'll bear that in mind. I'm not sure where or when at this stage which is why having everything planned so far up to date on the calendar would really help (anyone able to help with that please?). Ascot are going to look at doing me a decent (better than last year) deal and I've got some good quotes from a few others

I've added Cooden, Woodhall and Machrihanish for next year.

Just to reiterate, anyone can update the calendar, you just need to register for a google account. I'm happy to update it with any events, but please pm me if you want me to do that so I don't miss anything

Played it a couple of years ago and it was very nice.

So that's Homers "do" sorted then.

Nothing to do with "my" do. I think the forum has proved that there is always going to be interest for get togethers and that they don't all have to be huge events to be good fun. If we can get a do at Blackmoor too then so much the better.

Colin thanks for sorting it out as well regarding the calendar updates

It was discussed at the weekend that surely GM could come up with a format that would be easier to follow/access than this google thing.

As more and more of these meets happen it would be good if we could get something done.

Did you come up with any suggestions?

Nah,it was thought the experts in the field could have better answers than a dozen pissed up men on their jollys. :p

Errr I only mentioned it because it wasn't set in stone that Ascot was going to be the definite venue next year.
To quote....

Seems sensible that if you've got somebody like Richart willing to help at another course as good as Blackmoor to make use of his kind offer?
:D :D :D

Once granted the Royal Patronage can be revoked but isn't dependant upon venue.

That would explain that then. Thanks. Always confused me that one.

Finally and more importantly get your facts straight. I haven't discarded Richarts offer at all. He and I have been in contact via PM about organising another GM day at Ascot as well as the possibility of another one at his place

It's impossible to get facts straight when your comments seem to change with the wind direction. :)

So you are saying that your GM Spring Meeting is going to be Ascot now after all, and not at any of the other venues that were of possible interest :D :D :D

Pants

Interesting that you post on one thread and then swap to another to continue to pick holes. As it happens Ascot have done me a deal that comes out at £5 per head less than last year which is actually very competitive compared to the other quotes. They are offering me dates for much later in the year in order that those already committed to Beau, Cooden and hopefully Blackmoor will still have room and money to come back and enjoy Ascot. As usual we'll get use of the whites not normally allowed for any other societies and there will be courtesy of the course after the evening meal if anyone wants some extra holes as we enjoyed last year.

Richart and myself have been talking privately to try and find dates which means we can maximise numbers coming to both events. We haven't posted anything (I imagine tomorrow) as I've got some last minute things to iron out. As you can imagine with my work situation it hasn't exactly been high on my priorities
