Disappointing Courses

I considered that, but I've never actually been disappointed with it - and I've played it 5 times!

Sure it's not a stunningly difficult course, but it was never 'disappointing'!

The New Course is my favourite of the 3 I've played, though the Jubilee was probably a tad tougher.

TOC would be a very disappointing course to try and play on a Sunday though!

The locals at St Andrews seem to think that the 'New' course is better than the 'Old' course, and I tend to agree with them. However it does not have the history of the Old Course.

The one I really want to play soon is Thurlestone to see if the quality of the course lives up to the spectacular views...

Personal opinion only but I would suggest that you will find the scenery and views to be the best part of your visit (by a long way!)

For course condition, Ingol near Preston. I lost half doz golf balls plugged in the middle of fairways.

For the frosty welcome in the clubhouse and the ignorant, arrogant member I encountered out on the course, Hunstanton. I'd looked forward to playing it so much on a tour of north Norfolk courses. Played Royal Cromer, Royal West Norfolk, Sheringham and then Hunstanton... maybe I need to return and give it a 2nd chance.
i played INGOL and had a shock when coming round the corner of a dog leg found the green in the middle of houses and a road no fence or hedge, was fun to have the people stood at the bus stop clapping when we sunk our puts.

Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet (perhaps for blasphemy?) but the Old Course at St. Andrews has to be overrated and underwhelming personified. As a venue to attract tourists and nostalgia seekers it has no rivals, but to actually play on the hallowed turf is quite frankly a pretty boring course save a couple of holes. Disappointing is an understatement really.

Totally disagree. For the average golfer it still offers a decent test of golf and there's a unique feeling about the whole place and the old course has its own aura. Maybe you're just too good for it! As for me, I struggled but never been as happy shooting in the 90's

I hear what you're saying - I totally get the aura and historic status, but once you tear yourself away from this it's still a pretty ordinary course with a bland feel to it. There are at least two other courses at St. Andrews that are a better test of golf.
The Links Trusts decision to ignore the course record of 62 on the grounds it been lengthened by a whopping 164 yards seems to suggest they're a little embarrassed by it's consistent low scoring rounds in pro golf too. Huge double greens are a bit of a turn off too - meh.

Wentworth West for me. Enjoyed the course but couldnt help but feel that i wasnt as blown away as i should be.

I know the Brabazon has a lot of critics but the greens there remain the best i have ever putt on. Always a joy to play there.
