St. Mellion (Old) - is that the Nicklaus course, Homer?
Surprised at that choice, one of my favourite inland courses, but each to their own.

There's a few courses I'd not go back to, but I wasn't expecting much of them anyway so the only one I was really dissaponted with was first time we played the Nicklaus Course at Carden Park. Had got my expectations up for it to be an awesome track, after all it's got the Golden Bears name attached, but just didn't feel it.
However I've been back there a few times now (playing both courses) and I quite like it as I've not got the same high expectations.
Out of the 'Hotel Golf' golf weekends we've been on we rated Carden park as the best when assessing the overall quality of both courses, as most of them have one decent track but one very average one.
I think we went with not huge expectations, and whilst it will in no means blow you away and there are much better single courses in terms of quality, we thought the combination made for a very good pair of courses.
A friend of mine visited the Isle of Purbeck earlier this year.
Was really looking forward to it but some of the fairways were in such poor nick that even with pickandplace there was nowhere decent within the standard distance to put a ball down with any sort of a lie !

You did play it at the start off march in the winter, come back again now and I am sure you will change your mind. It's definitely a top 10 course.Woodhall spa. have to say i thoroughly enjoyed the place and would snap a chance up to go again but a top 10 course? Most definitely not.
It was a nice nine hole course, but the extra nine holes were built in a big field. Not a big fan of Silvermere. Aside from the length of rounds and lack of etiquette from weekend hackers, once you get past the first few holes in the trees the holes are all rather open and samey. The par 3 seventeenth is a decent hole as is the last now to an island green but overall it has too many negative for me. The greens are usually in poor condition too
Played it last month too and was great. I would certainly be a member if i lived closeYou did play it at the start off march in the winter, come back again now and I am sure you will change your mind. It's definitely a top 10 course.

Nice clubhouse, and Pro shop though.
No, its the other course. Was a big fan of the Nicklaus
IOP is situated on National Trust land (or something similar) which prohibits them from using various chemicals so the course often suffers from poor conditioning. It's a real shame because some of the holes there are outstanding.
For me the 2 that have good reviews that I didn't rate were RND and Saunton West.
Just found both quite boring,in fact im having trouble remembering the holes which
tells me they were not memorable.
