I've been playing for one year now and still fail to get some decent consistency in terms of scoring. On a good day I shoot low 80s while on a bad day I hit the 100 mark. My best round so far has been 75 (4 gross over) and my worst one an incredible 126!! Funny enough the 75 came one month before the 126!!

My last 8 rounds on the same course (par 71) have been: 88 - 107 - 85 - 85 - 103 - 96 - 86 - 83

That doesn't look normal to me!

75 playing off a handicap of 16?! Do you wear a poncho, by any chance..?!

I think my real hc in June when I was playing every day with single digit hcappers was more around 10. I broke 80 5 times in that period but there was no additional competition stress as they were just informal round. Playing once a week and in the competition only I struggle to get that kind of score.

if a high handicapper who shoots real low is called a bandit, whats the name for a 1 handicapper who cant break 80?

Take away the 107 and 103 that is pretty consistant scoring. as you say you have only been playing for a year, so i would be pleased with that. Putting together good scores in comps is something mts per round see where you need to improve and work on those areas.

Dont know what happened there?

What was missed out was, Most of us have problems putting in good scores in comps that will come in time. Why dont you start keeping some stats on your game GIR, FIR and putts per round see where you need to improve and work on those areas.

My shots are purely lost around on the green. I would hate to think how many putts I have per round but I average at least 3 putts per hole. Im usually on the green with at least a putt at par but cannot judge pace and often leave well short or knock it 12 foot past.

nowadays I dont often shoot over 90 and I think the difference between a mid or high eighties round and a low or sub 80 round is that the putts go in from 10-12 feet rather than sit on the edge or just lip out.
