Did They Make A Difference ?

910 Driver free from AG - has made a huge difference, mainly through having the right flex shaft
Irons - Going from blades to my slightly more forgiving CB clubs has made a big difference.

Result is that my handicap came down from 10.something to 6.5 (lowest 6.4) this year :)

Well played Jocko!

Well played Jocko!

Thanks very much JustOne :)

Has been a good year, difference also being I've played more this year than any of the 15 years previously now football is completely packed in.

Expecting to play a lot less this year as general life is busier and getting in the way so quite prepared for the handicap to creep back up again. As long as I keep enjoying it when that's happening and I can't play quite so often is the main thing.

My name is Darthus Maximus Vegas

Father to a new set of Mizunos

Owner of a murderous swing

and I WILL have my handicap cut, in this season or the next

Too early yet, hopefully this year is the year, but as is Smiffy's problem, I also don't play in enough qualifiers to get my handicap reduced.

Feeling alot more confident with the JPX woods/hybrids and hitting the ball well thus far in 2012, so hopefully that continues and I get to play in a few club comps but it all depends on whether I can afford to keep my membership with the cost of an impending wedding and 4 stag weekends (plus my own) and 7 other weddings to attend this year! :(

Got fitted for a new Cobra ZL Encore driver at the end of November. It's made a real difference to my driving, mainly becasue the shaft is suited to my swing. Stiff flex is really stable and I am definitely hitting more fairways. I'd say I've gained about 5-10 yards distance, but as I don't use GPS, that's a guestimate.

Got a Ping G20 3-wood at the same time, but to be honest, I've become so obsessed with the driver that I rarely use it off the tee, so still getting to grips with it.

Handicap wise it's hard to say, only played two qualifiers in howling wind, so this coming season will be the acid test.

I do know I can't wait to get on the tee every hole as it's a total joy to hit. And no-one else has one, so it appeals to my snobby side. :D

G20 Irons - Yes and straight away

Since purchasing mid December I have played in 6 comps and won 4! Also hitting a new PB of 82 happy is an understatement.

Don't give your membership up for a wedding, you will regret it.
Just save the money elsewhere out of the wedding budget.

I'll let you tell HID that! Good luck! :D

I think they do a "discounted rate" membership, so I'm still eligible to play in comps or whatever, but I have to play every time I play and the more I play, the cheaper it gets, might be a better option if I can't get my full membership's worth.

Ping G15's last June. Massive improvement in ball striking, a lot more confidence in what I'm trying to hit. Unfortunately, didn't perform too well in the few comps that I took part in after getting them.

Looking forward to a better year this year (already won one comp).

I'm in a similar boat Aztecs although with a kid on the way rather than wedding (been there done that!).

My club is really good actually, I pay my "club" joining fee but then pay as I play at a discounted green fee rate. If I managed to play a lot, once I have paid as much as I would have for the years membership the rest of the year is free :) Just makes it really flexible which is ideal in my circumstances as I might not play at all from August to the end of the year. However everything might be hunky dory with the little one and play a fair few times.

The rife abaco putter has been a revolation to my putting. ive sunk more puts from 6-8 ft in the last 3 week than i sunk all last year. was a good investment... oh and its proper shiny.

Bought a new PING G20 driver and it made a huge difference to that part of my game. I am now hitting it further and straighter than before. Its such a lovely club even though some don't like the noise it makes and think it looks ugly. I presonally love that noise it makes when you really give it some.

I also got a G20 hybrid to replace my 3 iron. Never had a problem with my 3 iron but just thought I would try out one of these new fangled hybrid things. Jury still out on that one.

Big improvement for me, Dropped 7 shots of the handicap – from 20-13

Bought last year.

Ping G5 Driver (brandnew/old stock with the G10 Tfc stiff shaft)
Mizuno Irons Mx200 3-pw
Cleveland Wedges tour edition 51-65
Tp Mills Mizuno Putter

All working well.

Bought some mp52 as well but only used them once, still loving the mx200s!

Phil

Only used them twice. So to soon to tell. But enjoying the feel of them. Got them at a great price to £229.99, 4-PW Taylormade CB's

I got my Cleveland driver and Ping irons in June last year.
Still liking the irons, but loving the driver.
Handicap is a full shot lower since getting them. :)
Really looking forward to next season !!
