Decent balls

Reached a point where I'm not losing many so think I might give a slightly more expensive ball a try.

Used Wilson DX2, Callaway Supersoft, and Titleist DT Trusoft previously.

Been suggested to try the Titleist Toursoft, but does anyone else have any suggestions? Not looking for pro V or tp5 type prices, probably about £30 tops, softer feel

I got to this stage and ended up buying these. Taylormade RBZ soft £15 a dozen from Sports Direct or £23 for 2 dozen.

I played some of my best golf towards the middle / end of last season only using these. I'll never use another 'premium' ball as this has more than confirmed its the indian and the not the arrow. The minor gains that can be had by using a premium ball is not something that will apply to a mid / high handicapper like me.

I've never played a premium ball myself so unsure if it will make a difference or not but the only way for me to find out is to try it. I just never saw the point previously when I was losing a sleeve per round. Now it's down to one a round I feel like I might as well give it a try.

Unsure what type though as when I first started I had an awful slice and feel like 3 piece/tour balls could bring that back potentially. I'll probably see if our pro can sell me a dozen that's a mix of 4 different sleeves

If you can't get them from your Pro these guys do a 10 pack, 2 each of their 5 different balls. Should prove a good comparison.

I wouldn't write off a style of ball without trying other manufacturers offerings.
I lose a lot of distance with irons using Srixon Soft Feel but not using other similar 'soft feel' balls.

Currently have the last years model of the Bridgestone Tour B330 RX and RXS on offer for £19.99/doz. (half price)

Great Price for a great ball.

Seen that before and it's not far from me. Might give them a go as a couple of people have suggested those now

I would start at the beginning....what is it that you want this new ball to do, or do for you, that the existing 3 balls you play regularily don't do?
What are you prepared to give up to gain this factor?

For example, and hopefully without putting words into your mouth, the Supersoft will generally fly lower, go further but be difficult to control in terms of both shaping your shots and on contact with the green.
A Bridgestone 330 RXS would fly higher, travel less, be easier to fade/draw and stop.

Overall feel isn't a function of these characteristics per se ie many very firm feeling balls have high spin rates and deliver superb controlability (in the right hands) - but it's obviously an important characteristic in people's minds.

yeah..their price point is pretty good...I like the Vice concept...its just the product itself... hope they have sorted out the colour fade..maybe it's me as a new ball will often last 5 rounds.....TBH.....I just look at what's around for £20 the dozen and buy a few boxes of the same for the season.....using the same ball throughout is probably more important in my opinion

If you like the idea try Snell balls; same concept from the man who brought you the Titleist Pro V1 and the Taylor Made TP. (y)

It's not that I particularly want it to do anything, it's just to try and see what if any difference there is. Previously it would have been stupid to spend more than about £15 for a dozen because I was losing quite a few.

I would like something with a little more control around the greens though. I feel like I lose a few shots from about 50-60 yards in. Probably more to do with me than the type of ball though

You will need a higher spin ball then to make a difference; combined with technique. Generally that will start with a urethane cover (although there are newer materials being used by some manufacturers).

I really like the dx3 which is a 3 piece and plays like the NXT. Fortunately my work have supplied me pretty much an unlimited supply of DT tour softs branded with our name for free so if you fancy the dx3 I’ll do you a deal on 5 dozen. I used to bulk buy from a local independent shop but they closed hence my “overstock”

DX3 is much better than the NXT.... IMHO

Trusoft and DX2 are actually the ones I use. They are soft, good quality and cheap, which ticks all the boxes for me. For a while last year I played the Bridgestone e6 Soft, as I wanted a three-piece with more spin when the course was bone dry in summer - but I'm not sure I noticed enough benefit to make it worth paying £25 a box, when I can get my usual two-piece balls for £15-18 a box. If that's within your price range though, that e6 Soft is a good one to try.
