Played in the Captains Day Stableford Comp over the weekend, and had a pretty good round (for me) in very difficult conditions, blowing a gale with intermittent showers.

Had 2 blobs, a 3 off the tee for a 7 on a par 3 :( but managed a half decent 36 points overall, playing to handicap.

Went for a round after work last night and checked the notice board, finished 3rd overall and my first ever cut :)

Doesn't compare with some of the heroic scores / rounds posted on the forums, but I am still grinning now :)

Rome wasn't built in a day!

You're moving in the right direction, that's what's important but even more so is the fact you're clearly enjoying golf - that's what it's really about. :)

Nothing to worry about there. It was clearly a difficult scoring day and you mastered the course better than most. Forget the bad holes as you'll get them (at least stableford is more forgiving) and enjoy the cut and any prizes you may get.

36 points with two blobs isn't half decent, it's damned good. Last time I had two blobs I played out of my skin, and only managed 34 points. Especially in tough conditions. I know there's always this 'It's easier to compete with a high/low handicap' debate. But playing in the wind is, I think, blimming tough on the mid - higher handicappers, coz we can't shape shots ( high/low etc) like the cat 1 and 2 players.

Good going in tough conditions. I hate it when the winds blowing....
Well played

I feel a challenge at Eastbourne Downs coming on ;)

Good shooting WIG but tell me why did you keep playing on the par 3 after your fifth shot????

Yer gonna get NIL POINT anyway.

Practice? Stupidity? Not realising? lol In truth I was scoring well and didn't want to N/R as I thought, rightly or wrongly, that it would effect my chance of a cut?

Was only a 0.4 cut as I played exactly to handicap, I guess the CSS must have been 73? - God it's complicated this game! :D

Bob - you'll be pleased to know the putter is really firing ;)
