Davis Love USA Ryder Cup Captain

So having had a policy of captains only getting one shot at the Ryder Cup captaincy prior to TW at Gleneagles the US have well and truly abandoned it!

Not too sure why they would pick DL3 again though.

I'm surprised bearing in mind the American obsession with winning.
Losers get forgotten very quickly with winners praised from on high.
Miracle or not DL3 lost so could easily have been consigned to oblivion like Pavin for example

Although the Captain is a factor I think too much is made of it. Yes, they decide pairings etc but at the end of the day its down to the players. You can have the top 12 in the world in your side but if they don't play well they'll get beaten.
I also don't buy the bit about the Captain getting the players "up" for the RC
Would any of the 24 really need encouragement yo play in the biggest golf event outside of the Majors..?

I agree with that, however, the Cpt can have an adverse effect with poor communication, dropping players or making uncomfortable pairings with no explanation etc etc

His Tiggyness has never really appeared fully up for it.

I think this is a good decision and the US side will be up to banish the Miracle of Medinah. Love will do everything he possibly can to get the result and I thin the team will play for him much more, very much like the Europeans always seem to do for their leader
