Davis Love USA Ryder Cup Captain

Not sure.

When I look at Clarke, you can see he has a little passion about him, especially when he played in them.

DL3 seems almost detached from it.

I watched the announcement on Sky last night and the subsequent speech from DL3. He was very calm, said all the right things, but there's something about him I can't put my finger on. As I said, he seems very detached from it all (Lack of passion) and seemed to be a case of

" Well, he nearly did it last time! What are the chances of lightening striking twice?"

If I was DL3, and been asked to captain again, my question would be very simple:

After how Tom Watson treated by certain players after the last Ryder Cup. Is the US Team captain job now a poisoned chalice?

Best (most suitable) of whats available I think

Cant wait to see what happens in a few years when Phil gets the job

Im very interested in the rational as to why the US have gone back to the last guy to lose on home soil. They mentioned on Sky news that there was a RC task force and Phil was part of.

lets face it they lost from an almost unassailable position, not necessarily the Captains fault, but a loss none the less.

Azinger ruled himself out but not sure what went against Couples.

I think DL3 is well regarded by PGA and the players and, lets face it, it took a miracle to beat his team last time.

I've no idea why Freddie Couples hasn't had it yet. Players and fans all like him, plus hasn't he been doing the same role in the Presidents Cup?

Unless he's being lined up for 2018, have an American with some character for when they are in France.

I like DL3 though. Comes across as a decent bloke.

Initially I thought a duff move from America, but the more I think about it, the better it is. For 2.5 days they were all over us and only by a miracle and US play collapse did we win. He was obviously doing something very right during the first few days. Also, its given him the chance to avenge...

I don't think it matters who is the captain this time around.
I believe atm Europe have such a good team spirit and such good pairings
we will win anyhow.
I watched the 1995 Ryder cup yesterday on DVD and Clarke played Love
in the singles had a fantastic match, smoking a fat cigar together afterwards.

Normally the US are useless in the team section and do well in the singles. DL3 managed to get them working brilliantly in the team section and if he can repeat that again you have to expect them not to collapse in the same manner in the singles. Perhaps a smart move from the US and I believe the senior players were consulted so no excuses this time.

I think USA have a very strong younger generation coming through and many of them should be well established as top players by then. If I had to bet now I'd go for USA....

I think he will be a good influence for them. Much rather have Darren as a captain for us Europeans though.

He seems a good personality fit for the yanks (apart from Patrick Reed).

agree with that bit, but I dont agree we will win anyhow!

Foursomes and fourballs are where the USA usually lose it- if they get that bit right the singles will be one tough mofo to win.
