David Brent

I thought extras was ok, derek was good and can't stand Office.

But it I think as a stand up and host he is brilliant. Says a lot of things poeple don't like. But that's my sort of humour.

Does a a lot of good charity work and pays his taxes too. A good guy IMO.

Didn't watch the office till it came on Netflix, having heard all my mates raving about it, it should be right up my street my type of humour and all that, but it just wasn't that funny, for me its a bit like Tarantino films or the Emperors new clothes!

The Office was good, and Extras was even better.

I preferred the Office over Extras - just though but both brilliant. His stand up is also very
Funny and clever but for me the best of the lot is the podcasts with Marchant and Pilkington - non stop laughing

He is clearly a very good writer but a desperately poor actor. [IMVHO]
Think how funnier episodes would have been with a [half] decent actor playing the lead.

Sorry but I disagree,it was suppose to be like a documentary so not sure a polished performance was needed.

Just my opinion.

I have met many 'managers' who conform to the David Brent stereotype! 'The Office' should be shown to all newly promoted managers to stop them behaving like complete prats! 😀

I thought The Office was genius the first time I stumbled across it, similar to when I saw the first series of Alan Partridge. Original, well written and acted out superbly.

I didnt know a great deal about Gervais and Coogan at the time and it kinda added to the appeal on top of the fact that they were absolutely superb shows.

No doubt he's milked David Brent and turning in Johnny Hollywood overnight grated a little but he's without doubt a talented bloke.

What grates me is the same old boring tippy toed so called comedians that turn up on the likes of Mock the Week...Josh Widdecome and his play it safe buddies bleating on about what they're fashionably offended by week in week out. Theres a talentless pool of about 10 of them constantly doing every show possible.
Mainstream comedy is incredibly dull right now.

Gervais might be annoying and I'm not a huge fan but talentwise he's on another level to most of the other clowns out there at the moment

The Office as a TV series was very good and I got the humour and fact it was intended to be cringeworthy. However since then I find Brent and Gervais, devoid of anything new or funny and think he (Gervais) is hugely over rated.

I do find the Carl Pilkington series amusing.

Anyone thinking Brent was cringeworthy or a bad actor just didn't get the humor.

Pilkington I thought was schoolboy humour bordering on genius. The guy in the office with Gervais I thought was funny, but I thought gervais was poor very poor. His ad lib comedy/one liners are shocking for a "talented" comedian. Scripted comedy, again i think is sometimes shocking. I once saw him on ? Help for heroes concert where he had to fill in for a couple of mins during a tech glitch. He did the stupid office dance for twenty seconds then just died on stage.
A very very poor Peter Kay.
