Course closed - how's your faring?

Fully open, most tees ( 1 mat on a par 3) and all greens ( except 16 which is closed for reconstruction and drainage this winter)

No sign of water around the course and very playable due to soft receptive greens

We're on shorter tees, but not winter tees. One whole reduced from a par 4 to a 3, to miss out the majority of the fairway due to being water logged. That whole always is, think it's due for renovating this winter to fix it. Other than that full greens, winter greens are cut and flags out but not in use yet.

I played Hayling for the first time yesterday. Wow, what a course, what condition. Incredible.

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it :)

(why am I saying thank you, it's not as if I designed the course or I'm head green keeper  )

Shire was 'almost closed' on Saturday after several days of solid rain. Carry only which I wasn't looking forward to after several days of a seriously dodgy back. Ground was very soggy, several flooded bunkers and a huge 'lake' in the rough on 1 hole, but drainage coping pretty well - the main outlet out of course was flowing as fast as I've ever seen it! Greens were top notch!

Absolutely perfect, and will continue to be for the duration of the winter! The more water our course gets, the better is becomes...so it's all good!

Only time we'll close is for snow

Our course is fully open and still playing on proper tees and greens. It's a little bit wet in places, but still playing very well. Hedgehog wheels on trolleys have just become mandatory.

In deepest East Herts it has been a wet Autumn and the last few days have added a LOT of extra rain.

We were closed on Monday morning, but have since been open on the full course. No buggies.

I'm a bit concerned that everything is so wet this early in the Winter. We did pretty well despite the deluge last year, but if anything we seem wetter already than last time.

One plus point is that over the last few years a good deal of drainage has been put in, and even this autumn they have been working on improving the area around one of the more soggy greens. Can't ask for much more than that.

Course was open today with a short temp on 4, short hole on 6 and 16/17 closed. Not too bad underfoot apart from a few soggy areas and have to wonder why it wasn't open yesterday...

Course was open on Friday although we didn't play - only a bounce game and it was blistering down....!
A 3-ball went out early but came in after 3 - not specifically because it was raining but more that there was a fair bit of water sitting on some greens, making putting a tad tricky!
As far as I'm aware it stayed open all weekend, fog allowing, and has been fully open all week so far.
Likely to be a little soft in well known places but its been soaking up rain like its going out of fashion as we had a very dry few months before..hardly a drop for 3 months.
Playing tomorrow so will find out for sure.
