Course closed, how far would you travel for a game.

Reading the blog again about how is your course holding up and once more quite a few people have been disappointed due to the course being closed.
Talking to some guys at our winter open who had travelled 40 so they could get a game.
So How far would you travel to get a game.

Probably 30 - 40 miles depending on the course to be played. Have travelled to Leeds (approx 20 miles) in the past for a game when my home course has been closed.

1 hr is usually enough travelling, we're lucky round here in that Theres plenty of courses on the coast within that.

if my course is closed then chances all others within an hour so willbe too

My club is 35minutes from me but I have several courses within 5 mins

I very often play other courses besides my local.
I'd drive around 90 mins for a round,any more than that and I'd stay the night and have 2 rounds.

we had really bad snow up here about 5 years ago and everywhere was covered with snow for almost 3 months. no driving ranges, no course of any sort. then something happened on the Struie course at Dornoch and that opened on winter greens for a weekend.

That is 50 miles away, which i would happily have done every weekend just to get a game and after 2 months of no golf would have even gone down to the central belt a 3 hour drive away.
