Hi everyone,

I recently purchased an AP1 714 set (4-PW) off ebay, and was hoping to complete it with the matching W1 gap wedge (48°).

I asked my pro shop for a quote, and the price of a single iron from Titleist seems to be above £90, which I found a bit prohibitive given what I paid for the rest of the set.

Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck on eBay/Google finding a lone gap wedge. :(

Could any of you think of someplace where I could find that wedge (second hand or new) for a fair price?

Thanks,
Sebastien.

At that price you need to ask why it needs to be matching and then try to answer that question with a different solution.
Well, I quite like the PW of the set, so I figured having the matching 48° would help with consistency. :)

(PS: Hi from Cambridge!)

Golfbidder have AP1 GWs from £63 by the look of it.
Thanks, I should have mentionned I already looked on Golfbidder as well.
It would be great indeed, but I am looking for a regular shaft with standard loft/lie, and theirs has a stiff shaft and is 0.5" long and 2° upright.

Just a bit unlucky there.

IMO the thing that counts is distance control. As long as you know how far you hit it and you can confidently repeat it then its a good wedge.

If you are always chipping with one club then you can find that in isolation, personally I chip with all clubs from a 7 down and I find between my PW and 52 there is no issue.

As for Cambridge, I only play at the driving range near the science park and Cambridge Lakes par 3 course ATM.

I prefer a matching gap wedge and they can be quite hard to find, £63 on golf bidder seems reasonable for current clubs which retail @ £90.

My PW is 44°, so the gap to my SW is pretty high. :/

And yes, I like playing at the Lakes as well! :) Pretty nice course with all the water hazards. It's a bit short though... You can't really practice your long game on it.

Have you tried Kingsway yet? It's also pretty good for beginners, with mostly short par 4s and not too many hazards. :)

Yes, that'd be reasonable! I set up an alert on Golfbidder, so let's see if anything turns up...

Not yet but I am sure if I had someone to show me around I would, lakes is just up the road so I can be there, do 18 and back in a couple of hours, including practice. I don't have a long game so Lakes is perfect for me...

Thanks for the link. It's getting closer to a reasonnable price now! :D

Well, the longest holes are around 300 yards, so it's playable with 100 yards shots. ;)

And I'm always up for a round, so send me a PM if you feel like playing there one weekend!

I have just did this with Ap2's, I used golf bidder
Lucky you... I'll keep looking but I'm not too hopeful. :/
