was driving home after a shoddy round of golf yesterday when a 4x4 pulled out from the right, caused the car coming towards to brake suddenly, cut across me making me break suddenly, I gave a well done clap to the driver who promptly gave me the bird which I rapidly followed with a hand shake from the wrist (you know the one), he then proceeded to drive at 5 miles an hour for the next 400 yds, constantly breaking..... he then stopped in the middle of the road at which point I thought 'uh oh, gonna be some grief here' fortunately he sped off at a rate of knots never to be seen again

I think I may have to bite my lip in future and refrain from hand gestures just in case the next bloke is a Raul Moat :(

Tell me about it. It's amazing how it's never these people's fault either.

I was driving along a single carriageway A road at the weekend doing about 55mph when a car coming the other way started an attempted overtake right in front of me. I flashed him because I wasn't sure if he had seen me and needless to say I got a mouthful of abuse and the finger! It's amazing how it was obviously all my fault & therefore I deserved all the abuse. He should be thanking me for averting him from a head on collision! :D

LOL. I had this happen the other week.

Some bloke in a BMW X5 (shock horror ;)) decided he was turning right at a roundabout (there's 3 lanes), I was behind him and as soon as I saw him go right, I carried on straight to stay in the middle lane.

He then changed his mind and cut back in, nearly hitting the back of my car, but I got round him just in time.

So we were then stopped at traffic lights on the roundabout and he proceeded to flip me the bird (as did his wife, classy) I flipped him it back and started laughing at his incompetency for driving.

He then went to get out of his car to come and "knock me out" (quote), his wife stopped him, but I'm not really sure what he thought he was going to achieve with about 50 witnesses around us.

As we drove off, he did the normal BMW driver "I'll drive up your arse" trick, all the while being very animated with his hand gestures. Then as I turned off, I got a fist shake while I waved back sarcastically whilst laughing at him. Stupid idiot.

The worst is one I have complained about before.

A junction near me sees a road run almost parallel with the one it just left for a few hundred yards meaning if there is nothing coming the other way you do not need to break to leave to the right and go into the juntion.

People see this as the perfect time to pass someone, I have had it happen three times recently where two cars enter the junction, me on the correct side, someone else on the wrong side! You can imagine how weird that looks but add in the dip that follows and I have seen two close calls with cars coming the other way! One too close for comfort!

When will people learn and actually respect the mortality of others!

I sometimes go home from work on the M1, and get off at J22. The slip road off has 2 lanes, and the roundabout at the end of the slip road has 3 exits.

People will go down the slip road in the right hand lane, and turn left (1st exit) at the roundabout, just because they don't want to queue for 2 minutes being in the proper lane.

Never.
All that went out of the window years ago. Why? I can't say, but we're stuck with it now. It's another extension of Society in general.
Driving around all day as I do (Driving Instructor) I see it all - every day. The standard of driving has slumped. People are in too much of a hurry, they drive too fast and too close, they don't pay attention, ignore road signs and road markings and blame everyone else for anything that goes wrong.

And we all do it, have done it and will do it again.

I always drive expecting the unexpected Imurg, have to, I aint the best driver in the world but I am always wary of every other nutter or potential nutter. The ones that have seen loads of accidents - in their rear view mirror!

A well timed post! On my home last night, I was cut up on two consecutive roundabouts. Thankfully I had my wits about me and for some reason was expecting it to happen. Had no choice on the first but to give a blast of my horn which I never tend to do. Suffice to say I shouted a few choice words to vent my rage! I do now drive expecting the worse to happen and more often than not someone will do something stupid.

It amazes me how inept some people are on the roads. Another thing that seems to be getting worse is people not indicating. Gets right on my wick!!!

Achillies - were the cars that cut you up either Audi or BMW's?

Seems to be a recurring theme wherever I drive.

I appreciate there are BMW/Audi drivers who aren't utter morons, but it seems that the vast majority definitely are.

roundabouts are the surest place to find trouble, especially with two or more lanes.

If the Highways Agency hasn't b*d the layout (Black Cat on the A1), then it's prats who want to go round the roundabout in the 'outside' lane but chop across to the inside right at the entrance to the exit road. Either them or it's the dolts who won't accelerate out of junctions, off traffic lights etc

That happens a lot on the Crawley exit on the M23. People go up the outside lane as if they are heading towards Crawley and then, at the last minute, cut across everybody turning left to East Grinstead.
It does my head in

BMW/Mercedes/Audi/WhiteVan/Taxi - they've all got a bad reputation when it comes to driving.

Spookily enough - you don't get a reputation for nothing!

My Grandad used to do this every time he drove us to watch Castleford.

We all be p***ing ourselves laughing as he got in the wrong lane at the same roundabout every other week.

Cue a cacophony of car horns! :o

Coming out of Sunbury GC this morning, queue of around 40 cars at a T-junction with most turning right. Down the inside of everyone with two wheels on the pavement comes a 4x4 bombing past. So when one car sees him coming and moves over towards the kerb, the *** just pulls on tothe pavement and drives down it until he reaches the junction and turns left.

Why is there never a copper around when you really need one?

What is nice though being in the media is that I do have a few contacts in the police. And tomorrow morning just in case, one of them is going to be waiting at the bottom of the road in case he tries it again.

Please can everyone pray very hard that he does.

I have been tempted many a time to take down their number plate and report em, surely if we all did that the same ones would pop up time and time again?

whether anything could/would be done about it is another matter though
