Competition aims

1st Medal not until 11th April, a few qualifiers to go forward into knock-out stages prior to that but their Foursomes, Pairs, Teams etc.

Still finding my way around the course and still reading & learning the greens at my new home but early indications are looking good, although I've not played from the furthest back stones yet, close, but not quite.

I'll be very happy with buffer on my first medal as I can imagine I'll be a little anxious but if I get off to a good start I'll settle down quicker and I do tend to come out the traps well here, and after all, its the #YOTF2015

Get through today's 9 hole 1st round matchplay game. Practice went well yesterday, so that'll put the mockers on today's performance!

First medal tomorrow. Reasonable round today but been optimistic before and played like a twerp. Seemed to play my best when I'm at my morose Victor Meldrew curmudgeonly grumpiest as I was before Blackmoor. Bah humbug it is then

First comp today

Aims:
Not play like a twit
Make buffer
Remember to stand in the right place on the tee and take my cap off when shaking hands on the 18th

:)

Update
Not play like a twit - Fail
Make buffer - Fail
Remember to stand in the right place on the tee and take my cap off when shaking hands on the 18th -
Success! (actually wasn't wearing cap on 18th but after a day like that I'm taking it :D)

Update!
Nip and tuck all the way. Nice par on the par 4 last to square the match. Lost on the first play off hole :(

Not a medal but first comp at my new club is a stableford today.
The sun is out and I can't wait to get going. I put my name down at random with two other people and it turns out one of them was one of my best friends at school - he has a very common name.

Not aiming for anything in particular today am just going to make sure I enjoy it.

Update - 38 points so very happy with that, scored nothing on two consecutive holes after my approach landed right behind a tree and then the one loose drive of the round so could have done better. Probably a good idea not to win my first comp at my new club :)

Why do you think you could shoot 5 under your handicap?
Have you been practising hard over the winter?
Or have you just got a dodgy handicap?
Or have you been protecting your handicap?
Do you play in your clubs qualifiers?

I would say its a bold statement unless its one of the above.
Not having a pop just your honest answer

Handicap is a bit too high and I have been playing much better having worked on a few bits over the winter. It's optimistic but I hope achievable. I don't protect my handicap, have never seen the point in trying to keep it high!

I am really hoping to get down to 15 or less soon - my old course was much longer and harder so there is no reason why it can't be done.

Just need to keep improving as well as my iron play is slowly improving after a few tips.
