I have an old Bronty Chipmaster MK1 which works exceptionally well for me from the fringe and upto 10 yards from the green where there is no thick rough.

Realise it is outdated and was thinking of The Cleveland Niblick although unsure whether to take a 37 or 42 degree, whichever is similar to my existing club.

Realise that for some of you a 58 degree wedge or chiiping is the preferred choice but this works for me. What I should like to know is other people's views on The Cleveland and which club is similar to my own. I play off 14 am in my late 50's and hope to be off 12 by the end of the year

Many thanks

I have the 37 degree version of this club and have found it to be the most versitile club in the bag. It comes in handy if your swing is restricted by trees or bushes because the shaft is quite short and you can take more of a swing. It is excellent on full shots as well and goes much furter than expected but it does seem to draw quite a lot with me. I tried it out on a 515 yard par 5 with a spare ball and reached it in regulation. It seems easy to chip the ball close to the hole but from a bit further out I find that the ball can check up very quickly, not a bad thing if you are playing for it but it takes me by surprise a bit. All in all it is a great club but a bit expensive

It can't be any easier than a putting stroke with a 9iron can it? Save your money and just use an iron with a putting stroke.
