Chipper purchase...

Hybrid people there is a significant skill difference between putting with a 7 iron and puring a 3 iron. Anyone says otherwise is lying or stirring ;)

i would advise you to drop that 4 iron and stick in a chipper for two weeks. i can gurantee that your scores will fall.

The first three are just golf shots like any other. My chipper will take on your hybrid at chipping around the green.

have you ever tried chipping with a hybrid ? i found it a complete nightmare. it was far too hard to control. i suppose it would be easier to use say a 20+ degree one. my 18degree was all over the shop!

You guys have to open up that there is a lot more in golf past what the pros use and what you have in your bag.

Chippers have there uses like it or not but they do. Yeah you can chip with any other club but if this club is working for someone why on earth would you advise them to try chipping with a 7iron instead.

GPS is the same, they are there and can help, yeah you could also get off your bum and go measure the course out yourself but you wont because this helps you.

Hybrids again the same it is there to help those who cant hit out of the rough that well with an iron. Yeah you could go practice but a club that helps you is surely better.

Long putters exactly the same as the above.

Open up your eyes a bit just because a pro doesnt use one it doesnt mean they are useless. If you used everything a pro did then we would all be using top end balls but how often do we hear on here that you shouldnt go for a premium ball because it wont suit you. The same applies to chippers, hybrids, gps and long putters.

I had one in the bag for quite a while and was pretty handy with and was gear for bump and runs too. I dropped it from the bag when I joined my club and was determined to learn to use my other clubs for these shots and have got on well with it so far but certainly wouldn't put people of buying one if they struggle with this part of their game, we have plenty other clubs that help with our game So why not a chipper? It takes up a space in the bag so each to their own really.

that would be a disaster as its my go to club!!!! Ok fair dues I'll take the stick, I deserve it but I still think its a waste of a club

if thats your GTC then pick a different one. maybe leave the 58 behind. you could open up that 54 if you need to get extra loft. i think its worth a punt at least.

whos on the cover? dont know if i bought it! my brother got me a subscription last chrimbo so now i have to remember to pick it up.

i got a mag today wasnt even expecting one. Do you regulary get a special subscribers edition or is it a one off?

Yup always a special subscribers cover and sometimes subscribers only offers or competitions and delivered to your door before it goes on general sale and it's significantly cheaper than buying off the shelf.

Still don't understand why regular readers don't subscribe????

I really don't understand the argument against using chippers. Personally I don't, and never have as I quite like using my 7 iron in that position. That's the way I was shown when I first started, and it's kinda stuck. But saying that, if someone has one, or wants one, so what? It's all down to personal choice and what works for you, people shouldn't be vilified for choosing to use one. Like all golf equipment, cars, shoes, clothes, drinks, football teams, you name it, we have our own personal choice and should be respected for it regardless of whether we agree with it or not. Unless you support the spuds of course

It's not about vilfication more about wasting one of your 14 clubs to compensate for a skill you can learn. But what do I know, I play off 26 and should have a bag full of hybrids, a chipper, a belly putter and a ball retriever ;)

It depend on what you want from the game!

I've mate who could be a darn fine player, but he only plays 2 or 3 times a year and never practices.

can play to single fig, but has no handicap and he uses a chipper.

He is lethal with the bloody thing, he even hits it from 100 yards and is never far away. I understand why he uses it, i've seen him chip;)

He enjoys his game and can still get round without any sort of practice, good luck to him i say.
