Yes, a handicap of 22 gives you 94 shots to make par, from the reds you have have 86 shots. Thats a reduction of 8.5% as I said. One of us having a bit of a problem with maths?8/22 = 36% reduction in shots, am I missing sth?

Yeah, it is a good question. I don't think Par has yet been revealed in this scenario.I'm having difficulty in getting 14 for the short tees.
What are the Pars for both tees?
1) CH = 18 x (133/113) + (72.5-Par)
21.24 + ?
2) CH = 18 x (115/113) + (67.6-Par)
18.31 + ?
Par is 72 from all tees.I'm having difficulty in getting 14 for the short tees.

See #12What is the yardage difference?

Thank you for taking the time to check the calculations. Good to confirm it’s not some computer error somewhere1) CH = 18 x (133/113) + (72.5 - 72)
(21.24 + 0.5) = 22
2) CH = 18 x (115/113) + (67.6 - 72)
(18.31 - 4.4) = 14
Thank you.
I suspect that some of the pars on individual holes on the shorter tees are not within the recommended range with over 1100 yards difference in length.
The Slope is very low.
Have you done any calculations to work out what the par is for men purely based upon length, e.g are par 5s on the card really par 4s.Par is 72 from all tees.
just from above I can see there is 5 shots difference in course rating and from Rulesfan's workings the other 3 shots are coming from the difference in slope.FWIW, it’s 72.5/133/6719 vs 67.6/115/5570.
Model golfer or not, personally I can’t imagine giving up 8 shots for a 20% shorter course.
That's what I am wondering. 1100+ yards is a lot.Have you done any calculations to work out what the par is for men purely based upon length, e.g are par 5s on the card really par 4s.
Indeed. 1100+ yards and par is the same!?????That's what I am wondering. 1100+ yards is a lot.
Note a key part of the changes from April recommends standardising par for the same gender on the same course for all tees. The recommended length is only for the master set of tees, all other tees can have holes substantially longer or shorter than recommended length.1) CH = 18 x (133/113) + (72.5 - 72)
(21.24 + 0.5) = 22
2) CH = 18 x (115/113) + (67.6 - 72)
(18.31 - 4.4) = 14
Thank you.

It was specifically recommended. They even reference a possible 350 yard par 5 off the forward tees as it is perhaps 485 off the ‘master tees. The idea is that the sort of player who plays off the very forward tees might actually hit some greens in regulation - CR-Par sorts out the shots received side of this. Was it recommended, or just highlight as an option that might be useful in certain circumstances?
At some courses, different tees will purposely be located significant distances apart, so they can maybe turn a Par 5 into a Par 4. Or a Par 4 into a Par 3.
Standardising Par at such courses makes no sense, and to most golfers would appear absurd.
I think that is evidence enough to me that the authorities are doing their best to confuse golfers these daysIt was specifically recommended. Seems to me this change is making it less confusing than having scorecards with multiple columns for Par, but each to their own.I think that is evidence enough to me that the authorities are doing their best to confuse golfers these days![]()

I certainly will have a chuckle when I play a 110 yard Par 5![]()
We are now saying par means something for the back tees, and is completely irrelevant for all other tee markers
What do you mean the extreme possibility does nothing for my argument!???? That is the specific "argument" I started with, so fully relevant. There are clubs that have significantly different tees so the Par plays differently. What was confusing?
Using an extreme possibility does nothing for your argument.
As has been said on this and other threads multiple times Par is irrelevant full stop
So where is the course that is a par 5 from the from the back tee's but just 110 yds from the front? Par is not relevant in any meanfull way to your score. What do you mean the extreme possibility does nothing for my argument!???? That is the specific "argument" I started with, so fully relevant. Par is clearly not irrelevant, otherwise it wouldn't appear on the card. Par is only irrelevant (except for nett double bogey adjustments) for Handicap Index calculations. But, that isn't what we are talking about.
