Well done bladeplayer, another major win for the Irish ! Just a shame you will always be remembered on here for robbing Homer of his moment of glory. The forums own Stewart Cink.:D:D

Congrats Bill, bloody well played mate, I knew you would be in with a shout having played with you at Ballyliffin.

All that success too without your chief ballfinder;)

Safe journey home mate

Well lads, you think Giblets posts were long....wait till Homer logs in!!!!!!!!!!:D

Well done Bill it was good to meet you at Ballyliffin as the conditions that day were tough to play in, can't wait to read Homers post, i'll bet every shot he bloody hit will be in it.

Saaweeeeeettt Bill, I knew you had it in you! It was the trophy you got at ballyliffin and the basking in the presence of all of our greatness set you on your way! :D
Really happy for you matey! We want a photo of you with both trophies now!

How did Emmet get on?

Well done Bill,
great effort made to get their, as you probably had the furthest to travel to Ballyliffin to qualify, and then make the trip across the irish sea.
Fantastic result, well done, great to win a historic event. I am sure you will be the pride of Athy.

Well done bladeplayer, congrats on your victory.
Unlucky to all the other guys who played.
Bad luck to Homer as well, its never nice to lose on countback.
Also a big round of applause to Gm for organising a great comp for there centenery.
Hopefully they have something in the pipeline for next year.

Well played champ and everyone else, hope you had a great day.
Did you book an extra seat on the plane home for the trophy ala Darren Clark?

Cheers guys , only just up now to get the kids out for school totaly wrecked ..

Chris 1st prize was a srixon stand bag with the trophy, i swopped that with Mike who was 2nd in our group for the cleveland wedge as 1 i dont carry & 2 the bag i have is new & i have another 1 in the attic .. sneaked the trophy home without ryanair charging me a milion euro for the privalage ..
Bob .. trophy was carefuly in the hand luggage , Darren wouldnt loan me the jet :D
Crow .. not sure what was going on around the turn mate , think it was 9 -11-12 , had a good chat with myself & got back n track , had a sweet finish tho thankfuly.. made a long skilful (fluke ) putt on 14 for par & it kicked on from there ..
Brendy. Emmet was only 2 back , played realy well aswell , same as rest of us he felt he left a few out there.

Smange , Stevie you woudnt believe it mate i found alot of fairways (honestly:D) also found the scouts den with my drive on 11 (i think) pity its not part of the course tho ha

Dodger.. Im fair sure the LACK of alcahol contributed mate , mind you i think it helped my game in ballyliffin tho:D
Many thanks to Homer & Mike who off 4 also shot 34pts for an enjoyable round, Mikes game showed me what i want to strive for, such a sweet golfer , In the midst of it all around the presentation i didnt make a speech & neglected to thank the GM guys so to Mike H & Jezz many many thanks for a great time & great organisation, the good news is they plan to run something similar next year , mayb on a smaller level but its good to know , sorry im going on a bit now , finaly thanks to Brendy for making it possible with a well run event in ballyliffin that led to GM adding it as a qualifier , if you hadnt then none of the rest woulda happened ..

I'd just like to add my thanks to Mike and Jezz for organising a fabulous competition. My 36 points would have won it if only I had shot that on Thursday, not Wednesday!

I think that I must have won the wooden spoon with my performance yesterday.

Just go back having stayed an extra night with Mrs Homer. What can I say. It was a real pleasure to meet Bill and his wife and I was honoured to play with him and Mike who did well off 4 to get 34 points as the course was set up pretty hard. Mike didn't miss a drive all day and apart from one or two blips with the putter could have stolen the glory for himself.

As it turned out our group all had 34 and were the best scores of the day. I'll be honest and say I'm a trifle disappointed to finish second having three putter 15 and 16 and made birdie on 17 but Bill rallied brilliantly. He had a bit of a wobble around the turn but parred the last five holes. He hit the par 5 17th in two but three putted from 15 feet going for glory and the eagle but finished in style with a par on the famous long par 3 18th.

I actually struck the ball as well as I have for a long time and my driving was very good (for me). The putting wasn't great and starting with zero points on the first didn't fill me with confidence. I even hit a great drive in front of everyone then missed the green and three putted. As others have said the pins were tucked away. 15 in particular is a long par 3 of 180ish yards and the flag was on the extreme left behind a bunker. There was only about 10 feet of landing area and even McIlroy would have struggled to get near it. We all hit the green and Bill and Mike showed why they are single figures by two putting on a big downhill swinger while I three stabbed in style.

Many thanks to GM for setting the event up and taking us to some great courses in the qualifiers and the final itself. Thanks to all the guys I met yesterday and it was nice to put some more faces to names and finally a big well done to Bill for taking the spoils and hope his son is enjoying daddy's big new trophy as well as his 1st birthday
