As one the most local to the course I'm probably first back so here's a very quick report.

First off, a huge thanks to all at Golf Monthly for organising a superb event; the venue was great, the course in fantastic condition and judging by the number of smiling faces afterwards everybody had a cracking day, good scores or not!

My card was spoilt on the front nine, blobs on the first and fourth holes saw me out in 14 but a good back nine of 18 pulled it back to a semi-respectable 32.

Thanks to playing partners Keith, Dave and Gordon, really enjoyed the round.

It was a good day for the forum, however, but I'll not steal their thunder....

32 with 2 blobs aint too shabby Crow

I hope it was Homer who had a good day :)

so wish I had entered the original events, glad all had a great day, GM do a lot overall for its subscribers and forum members

If I could do Hanbury Manor again!

Hope all the finalists had a great day and well done to whoever won.

Would love the do something similar again next year, some sort of regional qualifiers towards a final.

It needs to have had, the handicap has shrunk lol, short game still the area that needs work though, that said the Driver may get a day off at Woburn!!!

I putted okay for most of today but a good putting display when it was needed on the par 3 last would have seen me in the prizes.

I'd cleared the chasm and was just off the front of the green with the flag right in the back corner, as far away as it could be. First effort raced by and just off the back, next broke more than I expected and then I missed a four footer.

Thinking about it a par would probabaly have won it. :( But then I suspect everybody will have a few "if onlys"

as I always say during or after a round 'it beats being at work' :) (usually when it has all gone tits up)

so judging from your post around 34-36 won it then?

34 points won the 0 to 12 and the 13 to 28 categories, we played off the whites and some of the pin placings were testing to say the least.

The fairways were a dream though, when you found them, I even managed to take some nice divots, and one that looked like an opencast mine. :o

Really was a great day, thanks to Alan, Dave and Jamie for great company. I had a couple of early blobs but pulled it back to 17 points at the turn but just could not get it going on the back 9. Sunk some good putts but they were to save the odd point. 31 points for me which was a little disappointing but reasonable on a long and testing course. Ok, the fact that I was in the bar until after Midnight before the round did not help

Good stuff, hopefully the irish lads had a good showing. Not at all jealous btw.
