Benjamin Zephaniah has died today.
There‘s just something about his poetry that really got my attention. I’ve not read any of his books but loved his (edgy) poetry.

Compare with the struldbruggs of Luggnagg.Celebs are just the same as the rest of us.
They die.
But if you can spare £25 you could buy a copy of Outlive by Dr. Peter Attia and live into the 100's.

Does it have a money back guarantee? Nope.
Does it mention the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics? Nope.
He's only the latest to mention the Greek Tithonus, who prayed to the gods for eternal life but failed to mention he wanted eternal youth as well.
So he kept ageing in pain forever and became jealous of people who were going to die.

Isn't it wonderful to know the atoms that made us were cooked in ancient stars, then distributed across the Milky Way Galaxy by explosions.
Even the atoms in your hands probably came from different stars.
Sad to reflect that after the worms get us, a supermassive black hole in the centre of our galaxy called Sagittarius A* will eventually gobble everything up.
That includes all the celebs.
No need to worry, it's a long way off.
Earth is in freefall at 60,000 mph in the solar system, which in turn freefalls at 480,000 mph around the black hole.
So our final fate is a few billion years away yet.

I think The Galaxy Song from The Meaning Of Life sums it up much better than that.Isn't it wonderful to know the atoms that made us were cooked in ancient stars, then distributed across the Milky Way Galaxy by explosions.

You only needed to read the article that you linked to learn that the central black hole ISN'T going to consume the galaxy.
Yes, the planet's fate is a few billion years away, when the sun turns into a red giant and incinerates everything on the Earth's surface.
(And around the same time the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxy will merge, which will create all kinds of gravitational havoc which may, or may not, affect the earth's orbit around the sun).
As for the fate of the human race. Any number of catastrophes of our own making might be the reason:
- nuclear war
- massive climate change
- collapse of the food web due to plastics
- out of control AI
- asteroid impact (ok, this one wouldn't be our fault)
- and probably some other stuff I haven't thought of
But for sure we'll be long gone before the sun's evolution kills the planet.
and those feetI think the gravitational pull has been pulling out my hair for years!

Good point. I shall refrain from continuing to point out any more astronomical errors in his posts.@stefanovic I think you are entirely missing the point of this thread. If you want a discussion about physics, the stars, meaning of life etc, please start another thread and leave this one to it's purpose.
It would be appreciated, thank you .Good point. I shall refrain from continuing to point out any more astronomical errors in his posts.
It would be appreciated, thank you .
If an astronomical thread starts up, crack on
He WAS brilliant in that role. The wonderful Andre Braugher, aka Capt Raymond Holt died yesterday
This one was a huge blow. I absolutely loved that character, and he was only 61. Completely out of nowhere. The wonderful Andre Braugher, aka Capt Raymond Holt died yesterday
