Casual water on the green

Last evening it was chucking down by the buckets. But what is a little rain to the hardened golfer, so we tee-ed off. The game was ok, but after a while, it was not draining quickly enough and we soon had casual water on the greens. Couple of times we got into the following situation. Can someone provide their thoughts on how to play

1) Ball comes to a stop in casual water on the green

2) Ball on the green, and there is casual water between ball and the hole.

In some cases, the only place available to take relief would mean the ball would need to be moved to favourable position closer to hole.

25-1b covers the relief situations. You have to take into account that relief from casual water on the green may actually be at a point off the green. It certainly can't be nearer the hole than the original ball position.

If the greens were that bad, then play should really have been suspended if it was a comp.

If it's a casual game then it's not really an issue.

As DCB says and a wee bit more. You have the same options in both instances (you get relief from interference with line of play when your ball is on the green):

play the ball as it lies;
place the ball at the nearest point of relief;
or, if you cannot get complete relief, place the ball at the nearest point of maximum relief.

Note:
You place at the NPR (not within a club length as you would do for a drop from an abnormal ground condition through the green).
the NPR can be off the green
the NPR cannot be nearer the hole
