My first love was my Dolly Sprint

Then when I was posted to Germany I got a Lotus Eclat off a Monkey that was being posted out at short notice and got it for a song, but it was an awful drive around Minden on the cobbled roads so I offloaded it pretty sharpish.

I then reverted to a MK2 Escort which got stolen when I was away on tour 😡

Had a phase of riding bikes then up to 750’s until I had a bad crash then it was BMW 520’s & Merc’s.

If I could have anything now, it would be a McLaren 650s

My first car was a very old VW Beetle. So old it was a 6 volt version. Daylight was in evidence through the floor in a number of places. During an emergency stop both front headlights carried on going, scaring the living daylights out of the 2 pedestrians who'd stepped out into the road. Bought for pennies it lasted a year and 20,000 miles.

However, it wasn't my first form of motorised transport, that being a Honda CB125N reg number JEC 681N. By the time I'd bought the Beetle I'd had a Honda CB400-4 and then a Moto Guzzi 850.

Mine was a Ford Prefect, cost £20, it broke down after a few weeks and I just left it where it conked out!

Austin Seven van. Sliding windows but no windscreen washers or passenger sun visor. I had to stick my hand out of the window with a washing up liquid bottle of water to clean the screen.

But I would love my MG Maestro 2.0i back. It could out drag the GTI and XR3i on a local disused RAF runway

Austin A35.

Awful to start when cold so I always parked facing down hill, a few cranks on the engine using the starting handle, then I used to push it down the road leap in to the drivers seat and bump start it.

I did several mods to it, fitted a solenoid actuated starter motor and, put in flashing indicator lights to replace the little flags that came out just behind the doors.
A really good decoke of the engine finally sorted out the starting problems.

There was a knack in using a starting handle, easy to sprain your wrist or thumb.

My first car was a VW Polo, F registration. Pretty sure it only had 4 gears and reverse.

Dream car? No idea a car gets me from A-B. I know nothing about cars other than they cost me money.

First car was a 1995 1.6 Ford Escort, loving nicknamed ‘the colonel’

Bought it for a bargain at £800

Datsun cherry was my first motor , I recall the insurance was £100 or something like. Insurance for kids theses days is mental.

A mint Triumph Stag for the classic no need for practicality car.

😍
Now that does look nice!

First car was a 94 Renault Clio. Always been into modified cars especially Japanese imports so if I could have anything would probably be an R32 GTR or an RX7.

First car was a mini with central pushbutton start and a front grill that let in water stalling the car when it went through a puddle. Best was a Ford Anglia 105E with a maroon stripe across the roof, the bees knees!
I had one of those, the fix was a marigold glove pulled over the distributor with the ends of the fingers cut off for the HT leads to go through. I remember the battery falling through the rusted battery housing in the boot while I was driving through Bristol in the rush hour. 😫
