Good evening,

Lately i've developed an early release about half way down the downswing, its playing havoc with my ball striking! Ive tried to get rid of it for the past two weeks with endless drills but none have seemed to help.

Has anyone manage to fix a similar problem? If so, any information on how to fix, or any drills i can work on would be massively appriciated.

Many thanks in advance.

nice swing:thup:

I like to think of Ernies 'box' thought.......ie the box shape created in your backswing with the shaft, right forearm and right upperarm. Hold that 'shape' as long as you can on the downswing.............simple and works wonders

Fantastic...... thankyou very much for the speedy reply, the drill looks good as a swing thought mid round, however i think im in need of something which is going to force me to release the club later, as just the thought doesnt seem to be working :(

Thankyou! I do have problems pulling the trigger sometimes. Had my handicap 2months, currently off 11. Bad shot is usually a snap hook or a push depending on how early the club releases :/ it wouldn't be so bad if I had just one miss, I could play around it, but not knowing wether it's going left or rights hurting the scorecard. I managed 4 birdies in my last round, but also lost three balls off the tee :(

Looks pretty good to me.
I would check your grip, the left hand looks a bit strong

Thats a nice swing for someone who has had a handicap for two months. How long have you been playing?

I am with Bob here, you dont seem to be casting the club. It's difficult to see in this video but you may be turning your wrists over and getting poor clubface control. Look at your grip as Bob suggested and also think about what is happening to the clubface through impact.

Thankyou very much. I've been playing about two years now, practice twice a week and try to play every weekend. Yes socket rocket I think your right, I was mistaking a release for a turning of the wrists half way down. My left wrist turns outward and under shutting the face down. Off to the range now to work on the above.

Once again thank your help has been much appriciated.

I took this video today at the range, hopefully this will make my problem more clear although i know the video isnt the best, what frustrates me was this was taken at the end after 150 balls worth of drills attempting to maintain a square clubface on the d/s. Ignore the allignment i was trying to squeeze high fades to feel the clubface more open.

Any help would be appriciated.

Thanks again,

Lewis
