Am organising a golf day to be held on May 21st in the Midlands. It's a "North versus South" match (hence the central location) and so far we have about 30 players who have commited to taking part. Being held on a really nice looking course called "Whittington Heath" and a fair old bit of banter (friendly) has ensued between the two "warring" teams!!
I have booked for 40, and it would be really great if I could get to that magic number.
Everybody on the particular site seems very friendly (similar to here).

Sounds a great idea smiffy...

One question, is Burton Upon Trent classed as North or South, though as I'm originally from the North East, so could I be in the North team, if my work diary has me down as on a rest day. (diary left at work in jacket this week unfortunatly.)

First thing you cheeky B~~~~~~ coming on our site and plugging another forum ;) (I was joking)

I am interested and could also convey Parmo, dates sort of fit for me.

How did you get so many interested when we struggle to get 4 for ours? Did you offer bribes?

It depends what forum it is :D

Errrr..it's Golf Magic ;)

The date is fixed, it's THURSDAY 21st MAY and the cost, per player, is £65.00.
This is for coffee/bacon roll on arrival, 9 holes in the morning (tee booked from 10.00-11.30)light lunch (soup & sandwiches or sandwiches and chips) 18 holes in the afternoon (tee booked 1.30 - 3.00) followed by a 3 course evening meal (for which jackets and ties will be required :()
This price also includes a contribution to the prize fund of £5.00 which will give us nearest the pin and longest drive prizes, prizes for the best three individual scores in the morning and a small cup/trophy for the winning team to hopefully be played for the following year.
The format is going to be 9 hole individual stableford in the morning as a warm up and a match "North v South" in the afternoon, final format yet to be decided...but I am favouring fourball betterball matchplay with points scoring (1 for a win, 1/2 point for drawn matches). But as I say, final decision has yet to be made.
I have reserved 40 spots and have 30 definite so far from Golf Magic. I have asked them if they minded me posting the meet up on here and they had no problem with that at all. They seem a nice bunch of people, and three lady players have got their names down for it already (one of them plays off 5!) so if any ladies on here are interested you would be more than welcome.
Because of the distance involved I am personally planning to go up there on the Wednesday morning, play another course that afternoon, take part in the comp on Thursday and come home on Friday, possibly playing another course that morning before I leave.
The two other courses I have picked to play are Little Aston and Beau Desert, two courses that look fantastic heath and heather tracks so if anybody fancies making more of a trip of it they would be welcome to join me.
Let me know if you are interested for definite as I will be requiring a £10.00 per person deposit to reserve your spot.
Thanks for listening and if you have any further questions don't hesitate to ask.

Count me in if spaces available! Any excuse and all that!

Is this an excuse for a stop over and a night on the juice?

Smiffy, there is a nice hotel called fairlawns close to little aston and they do discount deals with the course.
I stayed there last year when I went to Belfry for CF. A very nice place

I have found a hotel (RamadaJarvis) which does a twin room for the two nights I am going for £200.00 which works out at £50.00 a night bed and breakfast.
Didn't think that was too bad, but obviously will keep my options open.
Thanks for the heads up Vig

Smiffy, when do you need deposits by?

I've got to send a cheque for £200.00 off to the golf club by the end of December Tony.
If anybody is seriously interested in this, can you post me a cheque for £10.00 (made payable to Mr R Smith) and send it to:

Mr R Smith
72 Dorset Road
Bexhill on Sea
East Sussex
TN40 1SQ

If you also write your site screename on the back of the cheque that will help me work out who has sent it!
As soon as I receive your cheque I will mark "deposit paid" next to your name on the attendees list.

I am hoping to get two teams of 20 and at the moment have about 36 "definites". So there are still a few places up for grabs.
I did think about throwing the gauntlet down and offering a "Golf Monthly" versus "Golf Magic" match, but I felt it would be impossible to get enough players available from this site to make up numbers
Doesn't matter though....as I say, everybody on the Golf Magic site seems to be a good laugh and up for the game so it should be a great day out.
If you have any other questions please feel free to PM me
Rob
