Not if people continue to put more GP cards in as they do now. Wasn't there a thing that you'd go up a whole shot after a certain number of poor rounds - and committees can put you up in the review as well. It really wasn't that much of a hardship for your handicap to creep up slowly. Rather than getting two shots back after one bad month.

There is the soft anchor and the hard anchor for this isn't there?

Low Handicap Index (LHI)
A player's lowest Handicap Index during the last 12 months is used as an Anchor Point to limit increases in Handicap Index.
Soft CAP: Potential increases of Handicap Index to a figure greater than (LHI + 3) are limited by half the amount over three, e.g. 5 is limited to 4, 6 is limited to 4.5, etc.
Hard CAP: The maximum that the Handicap Index can increase to is (LHI + 5).

Homer, gonna be an interesting reception at your roll up today. The temperature is cold enough, but I think it’s gonna be colder for a certain individual 🤔
Cold yesterday but very frosty for our "friend". Was allowed to play in his usual group (technically he hasn't a playing ban, although the majority didn't want him anywhere near their group as they are getting dragged down as well as a result) and straight out of the clubhouse after without a word to anyone

Wonder how the poor sod felt who was left to sign his card?

Didn't put a card in. Their group don't want him playing and so not allowed to put money in. Handicap suspended so can't put GP cards in

Yeah clearly he wasn't putting a card in for handicap but to play the roll up knowing you're not even putting card in for that either kinda defeats the purpose. He must've skin like grandmas rice pudding!

Skin like a rhino. Played as he put his name in a tee time and the group doesn't have the power to stop him playing but they refused to take an entry fee to the roll up and so simply played and left. Think he was given very short shrift but I wouldn't have been anywhere near the place

Unbelievable, brass neck. He’s obviously thinking it’ll all blow over and be forgotten about in time

Thing is our roll up members have a long memory. It won't be forgotten (and in many cases forgiven). The only way I could see him getting any form of reconciliation would be to pay back the money he pocketed from the roll up groups he played in and I don't think that will happen

You'd think he'd quickly realise that there is no future for him at your club. Then again, we're trying to put ourselves in the mind of someone who would cheat his mates. It's hard to comprehend.

I am hoping the reception he got yesterday will prompt a mind shift and he got the message. Waiting to see if he tries to flit to other roll up groups including the Saturday one I run. Very simple answer awaits

Moneys probably secondary to the fact he cheated his friends so blatantly.

Imho cheating on that scale he should be out the club.
It’s fraud
I think many on here are in agreement but the club has clearly gone through their internal process and EG has suspended his handicap for a minimum of 3 months and he is getting very little warmth from the members so hopefully the message will sink in and he'll move although the stigma will follow as another club will want to know why the handicap is suspended

Will be interesting to see what happens next weekend. Will he turn up; if not the penny may have dropped

The acid test will be in 2 weeks time when my Saturday roll up take on his weekend group in a 2 day Ryder cup style match with 4ball better ball on Saturday and singles on Sunday. Will the interest be too much even though both sides have said he isn't welcome
