Our club is not on the above system for on line booking. How useful is the system, what is the approximate cost please?

Additionally how long does it take to train the staff.

Many thanks

It can be gotten from free depending on what sort of deal your club strikes with them. YOu really should just get in contact with them though regarding training etc. It is very handy though and really helps keep competition/open days etc organised.

No idea of costs, but I find it very useful. Emails are received when my competition bookings are entered, and changes are emailed straight away too. Let's me check the tee times throughout the day even on my phone, so nothing really missing from my typical usage.

exactly this, definately a way forward IMO.

Assuming you are introducing this for your members? Only advice I can offer is to check very carefully with them how you want to utilise it whether it's just for comps or all general play as well. It seems to split opinion even more than dress codes and slow play

We've just started using the BRS system. It's a bit of a double edged sword. Tee times are very easy to book but we've having issues with people booking a slot but not turning up.

It just needs to be monitored.
A quiet word on a first offence, a warning 2nd time, then a short ban from the system...they'll soon learn.

We give out 1 week competition bans for those that book but dont turn up. For visitors, their card details are taken just in case and when they turn up on the day, they can pay cash, if they dont turn up......chaching!

I like this idea. Unless there's an emergency it takes less than a minute to remove your name from the page.

I much prefer the electronic system. As a junior at my old club you couldn't book, but if you were off single digits you could play in the men's comps if a time became available from Thursday onwards. They never did as nobody crossed out their name on the sign up sheet - however, if you turned up on Saturday morning you were guaranteed to get a game as people didn't show up and didn't let anyone know. If I was an adult at the time, I'd have been annoyed with being 'lumbered' with a junior because one of the 4 didn't turn up when, if they'd have taken their name off, I could have got a mate to fill the space. Worked out great for me though!

Wouldn't bother me having a jnr tag along for a game mate. I often jump on with 3 and 2 balls. It's better than playing solo and making people potentially rush their game or hold up their game by calling single players through.

Watch your bar takings don't drop as a result of members not popping in for pint while booking their times.

Also if you run any "book your own time" medals/stablefords it's worth having a system in place that anyone not in a full group reserves slot 4(assuming 3ball max) to indicate that they are playing the comp for anyone who may want to join up.

Other than that, works great. Although it does encourage some rather sad behaviour from the first thing in the morning brigade who sit up till midnight to book the earliest slot available on medal day.

We have ours set to open Friday/Saturday teetimes 8 days before the comp on a Thursday evening at 7:30pm so everyone has a fair crack of the whip.
We get well over 300 guys out (couple of hours on Friday booked then most of Saturday) so bookings need to be fair hence the week ban for non attenders as times are valuable to us.

Have it at ours however comps/medals are not done via it. We can book one week in advance and it opens at 8.00am so no sitting up late. Works really well imo.

I have only seen it work fro Open Comps at other Clubs.

What are the main benefits for members at the Home Club for booking Medal Comps and casual play?

How is it monitored if people do not show?

I think if members book and then don't show up they get warnings then aren't allowed to book tee times in advance. Same as now if they ring up to book then don't show.

Main advantage for us is booking in advance. Couldn't imagine wanting to play at a weekend and having to just roll up then hang around waiting to be able to go out. Previously could book before BRS but only 3 days in advance by calling pro shop.

Main advantage for me is 24hr booking, I'm rarely in town when the office or shop are open and dont like booking by phone so being able to see names on a web page anytime is great. Also being able to co-ordinate a time with your mates so you book together(on medal days when you can only book youself) is handy.

In response to replies above, it's possible my club are sadistic in making some guys stay up till the small hours, the more likely cause is they are technically inept and don't know how to change it. The bigger summer medals open 4pm friday but everything else is midnight

We use it for guest tee times on our web site and its good flexibility for changing green fees to give special offer etc.

I'd hate a system of having to book a tee time to play, for me turning up and going out when ever I want is an absolute dream. I've never had to wait for more than 2 or 3 groups to go before I could. For comps its a sheet in the pro shop and you put your name down for when you want.
