Brad and Cav

General consensus is Froome could have beaten Wiggins in TdF in 2012 but had to follow team orders, hate when sport does that. Cavendish cant win TdF but he wins (or used to win) stages in exciting fashion and shows his emotions, good and bad which I respect, Wiggins just likes to think he's too cool for school and can win whenever he wants, Froome's better but he's not 'a Mod on a bike' or 'cool Britannia' etc, Wiggins seems too cocky and there's something about him I don't like............just my view.

Froome left them on one climb. He was about 2 mins down on him at that time and finished over 3 mins down. The main part of "Froome is better" came about due to his Mrs ranting on twitter. Don't forget though that it's the nature of the TdF. Each team has a point man and also a main lead out man, you simply can not run a team without setting team orders otherwise you'll fail with all the riders trying to one up members of their own team.

Plus in that year, Brad was simply better. Nowadays that's changed.

Wiggins is once of the nicest blokes you could meet whereas (now I've only heard this from others who have met him) Froome is a right bell end.

Someone beat me to it; the general consensus that I've heard is that people are quite surprised Froome hasn't ridden off the edge of a mountain as his head's so far up his own backside he can't possibly see where he is going, whereas Wiggins in person is apparently quite down to earth.

Whilst history may prove Froome to be the better Grand Tour rider, Wiggins deserves credit for his achievements on both road and track and is the better all round cyclist for mine. I also seem to remember Wiggins giving his team far more credit for his win than Froome. As for Cav, his genes are against him; perfectly built for a sprinter but that's never going to help you win a Grand Tour.

Cavendish is not a sprinter nor has the build for a sprinter.
He is in fact an endurance athlete who happens to have the strength at the end of a race to go faster than the rest over a very short distance after a very long ride.

The sprinters in the velodrome probably wouldn't keep up with the tour for a mile or two.

There was that French guy who due to some technicality had to start the Olympic road race in order to be allowed to cycle the sprint events. He didn't make it to Putney Bridge, but probably by choice.

Whether Froome, Cavendish or Wiggins are up themeselves, self centred or someone that doesn't call their mother once a week, they are hugely successful and part of the reason British cycling has been the envy of the world for the last few years. I love to see them and every other British cyclist male or female smashing world records and winning gold
