Club Championships this weekend.....played 2 of my worst rounds of the year..... :(

Also finished off our semi-finals of the club pairs knockout which had ended all square on Thursday night. Won it on the 1st play off hole today with a birdie so into the final.

Not sure whether to laugh or cry...... :D

Well done amd good luck for final - will you be buying a special outfit for the day ? :)

Had not iddimilar polar weekend. Finally got to Single figures in Club Medal on Sat, getting cut from 9.6 to 9.4 :)

Then in club match yesterday we had to walk off after 12 holes because we were more than saturated and the greens were swimming pools - so disappointed, especially as 90 minutes later it dried up and was a gorgeous evening :(

Thats golf Rick, take heart from your success in the pairs. You were probably trying a bit too hard to play well in the club championship who knows.

Sev, I live near Wokingham - where do you play your golf?

Thanks Bob for noticing my little bit of pride :)

V-easy since Blackmoor. I must admit i have to say it's been a combination of the Veasy as well as a coming together of swing work i've been doing for the past year. One of my most depressing shots is the 1ft to 3ft putt, and the V-easy has worked wonders with that, so i have so much more confidence.

The new G20s courtesy of Ping and GM are coming on beautifully, and apart from the first round with them (which wasnt that bad actually) i am seeing huge benefits in accuracy, i can hit a 200 yard hybrid consistently, and that K15 driver is hitting the ball miles and mostly very straight.

So i have a real buzz for the moment, and am working on the next stage of my "Long term plan", which will get me to 8 or low 9s.

Sawtooth - i play over at Hennerton in Wargrave; short, but very pretty, very hilly, and really good fun club/membership. I live just over the road from Bearwood, and just down the road from B'wood Lakes (which i will join one day as soon as the Lottery gives me something other than a £10 win :)) . Where do you play then ?

I play most of my social golf at Sherfield Oaks, Basingstoke its a company scheme and very cheap for me to play.

For handicap and comps I play at Blue Mountain and I live in Sandhurst.

Hennerton sounds good, must get out to play there some day.

Never managed Shrefield, but played BM many many times over the years. Love it in summer , hate it in winter when the worm casts are out. Some really good holes and a good fair test. Still havent ever got onto the 14th Par 3 in Regulation in gods knows how many rounds.

If you ever have a Friday afternoon free, that's normally when i and a variety of odds and sods play for fun at hennerton - let me know and you can come round with us.

Any idea why you played so bad in the champs mate?

Congrats on the play off though!!

Hi Alex,
Couldn't get any rhythm going.......then threw in a couple of big number holes for good measure......... totally out of sorts and totally opposite to my birdie on the 1st play off hole in the knockout semi......

One thing that didn't help was I had a lesson the night before. I had rearranged it so it wouldn't coincide with the club champs, but they got rained off and rescheduled for the weekend and I forgot to cancel my lesson..........not an excuse, but it definitely didn't help.....

Ye gutted, a load of new info at the wrong time. When is your final?

Trying to sort out a date.....has to be played by Sept 25th, but oppo's can't make a date at all in Sept. They want to extend to Oct 9th and are submitting a request to the committee.

We can play on 3 weekend days and most evenings.
I have even suggested we play it over 2 evenings, eg tee off at 6pm and play the front 9 and then the back 9 another night.....they didnt want to do that. Even suggested 3 x 6 holes over 3 evenings....still no joy.

Just need to wait to see what the committee say but it's frustrating. We had the same issue with the last pair.....one of them was a school teacher and was away for 5 weeks!!!
They even suggested it might have to go to the toss of a coin, but having given them around 20 dates that we could play it and suggested that they might have to play 1 against 2 you can imagine our response!!! :D
