At the range last week. Took off the 3w headcover to reveal a flipping massive gouge all the way across the head .

When I address, all I can see is this huge scratch. Not sure I can use it now!

What do you do? Do you ignore the scratch? Do you repair the club as best you can? Or do you bin the club and replace it?

Get yourself to your local model shop and get a tin of paint, then into Boots for some nail laquer - sorted.

Exact same thing happened to me with my 3w when it was only 2 months old. The club is now out the bag as never hit the club the same again! (All in my head!)

With a bit of effort and some range time all is forgotten. I don't even notice the huge sky mark my wife made on my club, honest!

Call nick brown at gorlaston golf club. For £25 quid he repaired the mother of sky marks on my 3 wood. It was down to the metal. He also painted my friends r11 matt black so he knows what he is doing. My 3 wood looks spanking new

I find someone called James and give it to him for free......

Nike VR Pro Str8fit 13* 3 wood Graphite Project X 6.2 .....sounds like I could fit it in the bag

yes try and repair it as you would a scratch on a car, find a close match, paint and then use very fine car scratch sanding pad and eventually you should be able to fade the scratch to an acceptable level

Why not paint the head with Tipp-Ex and hey presto a state of the art white headed 3 wood;)

Get some two part car body filler and some wet and dry paper. Fill the scratch proud of the surface then rub it down with the wet and dry until flush. Mask up the head with paper and tape and respray with some gloss or matt car spray paint, a few light coats and a bit of wax polish and it will be as good as new. It shouldn't cost more than a tenner. It is easy and can be completed in a day honest. look on youtube you will get lots of great videos.

If it's that bad take it to a quality sprayer who can respray the top with a colour matched paint so you will never know it's been done. He may even be able to repair the scratch in such a way it disappears completely.
