Sit ups?

biking?

Jogging?

Bacon slicer lol.

Just kidding. Fasted cardio is best. So first thing in the morning before breakfast, very brisk walking is almost as good as jogging. Try to avoid carbs after 2pm. I need to follow my own advice though lol
Also if you can manage a brisk walk before bed it will help keep your metabolic rate raised whilst you sleep.
You can add in resistance training later but if you start with the rest you will see results at no expense.

I'm 2 days away from a weigh in for charity, which me and a girl in work decided to do for children in need.

My goal was to lose 18lb's in 2 months. Ive lost about 16 lb at the mo, but two more 7.5 mile runs to do before Friday morning's weigh in.

I had quite a few nights out and business days away (diet tends to go out the window then), but I have been running around the local park which has helped with the weight loss no end. I think if I would have been "dry" for 2 months,I would have lost 22+lb's, but I think the running has helped a lot.

You can't exercise your way out a bad diet, cut the carbs and eat a balanced diet of around 2000 calories a day, aim to lose 2lb a week and you'll see it come off.

To be honest on your own is tough, if your serious about it join a diet class.

Yes, it's the carbs that are the main problem.

Weight loss or gain is about calories IN vs calories BURNED.

3500 calories = 1 pound of fat.

If you need 2500 cals per day to stay the weight you are then an increase or decrease of 500 a day = 3500 in a week. So 1 pound loss or gain.
How you make the difference is up to you. Eat less or exercise more or both.

Most people put weight on during winter especially Xmas due to lower levels of activity and at Xmas eating and drinking more as well. Creating a calorie surplus and piling on the pounds.

My Mrs joined slimming world about a month ago and has about a stone off already. Just from altering her eating habits, but from my own experience its best to do both.

I started Weightwatchers online in Feb. 3st off just by changing what I eat and portion sizes. Didn't really do a load of exercise because I was getting over a heart attack.

IMO Calorie counting Diets dont work in the long term as you will not be able to sustain this way of eating. In most cases people will put the weight back on within a year.

Reducing sugars is a better way of reducing fat from your middle. You need to reduce the amounts of insulin your body produces through too much sugar in the blood. Carbs are another name for sugar and cutting them is a better route. For example, the average bowl of breakfast cereal contains around eight spoons full of sugar, a slice of bread around three.

my mrs joined slimming world and lost 2.5 stone in just short of a year, 2 years later its still off and she looks great!!!!
Surprising what you can still eat with SW . Must give it a go.:(

Consult your GP and a qualified trainer/dietitian. If you jump in to an exercise routine and big change in your diet you could do untold damage to your body without proper guidance and monitoring.

The usual advice of reducing carbs, walking more, increasing water intake all work, but need to be right for your body and your lifestyle.

Good luck and Stick with it. Losing weight can be done with a diet change, keeping it off requires a lifestyle change.

The biggest problem wit calorie dropping is your metabolism slows too therefore once you eat "normall" again your metabolism is so slow it can't burn jock enough hence it goes backin as quick.

SR is spot regarding carbs and sugar, too much carbs can leave you craving carbs. Lots of people can eat a big bowl of pasta and within an hour feel hungry again.

Balanced diet with some exercise, it will happen.

That's why my initial suggesting fasted cardio. Cutting out the booze (I assume beer or likes of vodka&coke/red bull) should see a reduction in weekly calories and a small amount of added cardio will increase that even more without massive lifestyle changes that don't get kept up in the long term.
Plus exercise has the added fitness which will help with his golf too.

If I remember right Gareth the moderator and AmandaJr worked in the health&fitness industry. They'd be able to help you to get a plan that will be easy to stick to long term.

Beer is very high in Sugars so cutting down will be a great help.
