I'm after a pair of proper rain gloves - getting prepared for a crap winter - and wondered what was worth the money out there.

My pro has the MacWets at £25 a pair and the Mizuno Rain Fit at £17 a pair.

They're difficult to test until you buy them as he won't let me try them on, shove my hands in a bucket of water and then hit some balls! :)

Any thoughts on which are better?

Footjoy raingrip. £14 a pair on fleabay and I can't fault them at all. In fact I played Donegal Golf club the other week in the pouring rain. My Dad and his friend complained the whole time about not being able to get grip. I had no such problem and lent my Dad a left hand glove I had spare. He liked it so much both him and his friend got me to order them a pair each. I have actually found that now I play better in the rain because I have confidence in my grip, and combined with a decent waterproof suit I don't worry about it anymore.

OK maybe not Pink but, seriously, you won't get a better grip in the wet.
Laugh back at them when you don't lose your grip and they start helicoptering clubs down the fairway.....

Going back a few years now, I had a friend - a Cat1 golfer - who swore by marigolds in heavy rain. He moved to a new club locally and was promptly told that he could not use them as it was against the rules.
On his behalf, I took up his case and, after several weeks, I got a definitive reply from the "Vice-President Rules at the USGA" that the use of marigolds was acceptable under the rules of golf.

I have one of the fj gloves (lost the other) and they were pretty good, when I was over at Goswick I bought a pair of the macwets and thankfully never used them so can't say what they are like. I would imagine they are all pretty similar in the way the go about their business. I think mickleson was wearing the fj ones at the open too.

I bought a pair of Footjoy ones recently. Great grip in the wet but my hands were bloody freezing. The pro did warn me about this and said they were probably more suitable for summer rather than winter.
