One i remember as a kid was an Eder goal ( the Brazillian not a header :)) link to it on youtube on

Theres a good build up , player on edge of box lets it through his legs , eder flicks it up & hits it .. brilliant IMO

Ok, not the best ever, but when you are a 12yr old at a Cup Final and this winner goes in, it seems like teh best goal in the world

Watch from 2.50 (although Provan's free-kick was cheeky too)

Sorry I can't provide you all with a U Tube vid, but it's in my head. Stevie Burr for Macc Town v Maidstone. Goalkeeper throws ball to left full back who gathers and roles to left mid. He looks up and drives the ball to the centre circle to Stevie Burr. One touch control and swings the ball out to the right winger, "Sir" John Askey, who is galloping down the wing. He collects and glides past the left full back. On reaching the byline he pulls the ball back to the right hand side of the penalty area to where the advancing Stevie Burr is arriving. The ball is at waist height. Stevie leaps into the air, swivels his hips, and lashes the ball with his right foot, on the volley, into the top right hand corner of the net. It make my hair stand on end typing, and re-living this. You're welcome. Nothing, but nothing will ever beat this. I'll take it to my grave.

Eder - I remember him from the '82 world cup. What a team Brazil had then... Falcao, Soctrates, Zizo etc etc. Still can't believe they didn't win.

Anyway - I know the goal you mean... against USSR....

This shows their "best 11" goals from that world cup (Scotland on the receiving end too any times - we scored first and made them angry!). Long intro... bear with it. In fairness, the goal you describe IS #1.

Thank you FD you are a legend , yea and the younger ones on here gota remember this was before all the overload of football we have now ..

Class Goal .. there was another one by Zico i think , it was a freekick left side & im fair sure Eder just lifted it up & Zico hit it .. not 100% on it tho ..

I love the chip over Rough,great goal from an unbelievably talented team.

I think it's the situation as much if not more than the strike i.e. if you score a brilliant goal to make it 5-0 does it matter. However if you equalise or score a winner with a few minutes left in a European Cup final or World Cup final it's means so much more.
Didn't like Ibrahimovic's much, too loopy, was expecting some kind of thunderbolt when I heard about it. His hit against France in Euro 2012 was better.
For me John Hewitt's headed goal in extra time for Aberdeen to win the Cup Winners cup in 83 will likely always be my best goal ever. 13yo went mental!
