not sure what the rules are but what do you use as a ball marker as i have seen some people use truly massive things to mark a ball that big that it must interferer with putts what happens in this case ?

I use a poker chip.

Never had a problem interfering with other putts as if I think my marker is on the line of a putt ill ask the player if he wants it moving off his line.

You can use anything you like, even a dead cat if you can stand the smell....
A small coin is suggested but whatever you do use you must be able to replace accurately....

A fella went in the pro shop asked if the pro sold ball markers,"yes" was the reply "50p each". the fella asked for two, and handed over his pound, "thank you" said the pro as he handed him two 5p pieces!

I'm told its a true story, but im not so sure.

 love it to be true

I use the poker chip I got in GM last year. If I have to move it I mark it on a line with a fixed object and tell my partner(s) what I've used. The biggest thing at my advancing age is to remember to move the marker back after

would it not be easier and less time consuming (constant argument) to use something less intrusive

I use a Brabazon, belfry ball marker as it come with a divot tool I bought when there. I left mine at home so had to buy one.

I have friends who use coins, poker chips, and even one who uses a miniature nufc flagstick (size of a cocktail stick)

I use either a poker chip from Hanbury Manor which has a removable inner marker or my PING marker that came with my pitch repairer I got at Gainsborough.. If I only have coins a £2 coin

Best tip I was ever given is to turn your marker upside down nif you have to move it, it is a subtle reminder.

From memory I've had to use a marker 2 or 3 times in the last 2-3 years....

fixed that for you Ian

Last yr I marked my ball with a £1,one of the lads playing with us (not really a golfer)walked up to me with a beaming smile "nice 1 I've just found a quid near hole"
He still gets stick for it now.

Haha, love this!!

If someone moves their marker after I ask them, I keep an eye out for them replacing it and nudge them if they forget.

But, I'll do the asking if I want it moved, don't like being in the middle of reading the putt when someone chirps up "is that alright there?"

I think it is Keegan Bradley (may be someone else) who uses a coin. He will always put the coin 'heads up' unless he has had to move it off someone else's line, in which case it is placed 'tails up'. This way, he gets a second reminder if he forgets to replace his marker.

I had a super lucky green ball marker......lost it:smirk:

Now I use canadian coins or American Dimes, the dimes are thin smooth and shiny
