Just received this message from BA - bugger!!

We would like to remind you about changes to our baggage and sporting equipment policy that come into effect from today.

From 7 October 2009, if you plan to travel with sporting equipment it will now count as part of your free checked baggage allowance. If you need to check in an item of sporting equipment in addition to your normal free allowance it will be charged as an extra bag.

Your baggage allowance is dependent upon the route you are flying, your class of travel and your Executive Club status. Details of our baggage policy can be found online at ba.com. Here you will also find information about our excess baggage charges and how you can make savings by pre-paying in advance online.

Warm regards,

British Airways

I was listening to the news on the way home and one of the items was how BA are now starting to charge for extras like the budget airlines do.

I've never taken golf clubs on a plane, but took a snooker cue a couple of times.
We weren't allowed to class it as normal baggage and were charged £15 per item weighing up to 15kg, so we taped about 7 together and paid a couple of quid each.

Doesn't help you I know. Sorry :o
