What do you do when someone repeats bad advice to you? Do you nod and agree or do you reply 'No you witless moron you're just repeating a hoary old myth that should have been dispelled long before Methuselah was young.'

I still hear people saying things like if you've got a stroke on a hole play to it. Are they idiots and should they be put down?
I say “look Backsticks, no one is interested. Keep it to yourself”

I've had quite a few people come for lessons who had been given bad advice.
One example is....
On the backswing, when the club shaft is horizontal, the toe should be pointing at the sky.
If you want hit the ball straight consistently, this advice will cause problems.

I used to play with a high handicap player when I just got into golf. Any time I would hit a bad shot he would shout you are swing too fast slow down lol. I think that’s always people’s go too advice or at least the people I’ve ran into. I would always think shut up I’m trying to swing fast.

One thing I struggle with playing with lower indexs , especially those in the sub 10 handicap is saying good shot to often..to me that was a brilliant shot but say they have just pulled in 2 yards off the green and to them it's awful.

Not so much bad advice but I think they think I'm taking the Mick 😂 excellent shot in my book lol 🤣

People confuse a decent strike of the ball with a good result of a shot.

My mates da will immediately say great shot as soon as good contact is made, regardless of where the ball ends up.

It can be infuriating and hilarious as you stand watching the ball sail towards the rouble. Haha

I am truly excellent at striking the ball perfectly... in completely the wrong direction.

Whats the usual cause? Path or face.
Both, normally (but not always) an out to in swing with a weak left hand and strong right
I've middled many a driver that's sailed miles right. Haha
Weak left hand I'd guess, open face at impact.
Look down at your grip, can you see any of your left thumb?

I liked Harrington’s views on this in the Pete Finch video

My grip tends to be on the strong side. Both hands. I've worked on weakening it but I fear my wonky thumbs make it look worse than it is at times.

I was struggling a bit for few weeks there until today. Shallowed the club and was striping it again. Must have been flat then over the top.
