Had a great day in the invitation today.
The course (Southport n Ainsdale) was in stunning condition, pure dry links golf and the greens were just incredible.

Got down the PG For 1/2hr before to hit some balls seeing it had been 13 months & found the middle of the club.

Great company, great weather, great course, shot +3 gross and me & my brother finished in the prizes.

Another 12 months & we will do it again!

I'm guessing those peculiarly good laser guided iron shots haven't completely deserted you then. :)

Can you teach me how to do it? I'll swap it for some training time on my 1976 Chopper?

:) :)

Nice to hear from you.

Shame to lose a talent like that from golf. Is there no way you could combine golf and cycling to keep your interest up in both sports?

Its actually quite interesting i think and maybe a lesson to be learnt.

I played golf at a pretty high standard for 15-20 years so swing thoughts are ingrained. On the very odd occasion i play these thoughts kick in & muscle memory so i find my ball striking and control comes straight back.

Short game is rusty obviously and cost me a few shots yesterday.
BUT

Because i am just there for the day out and to enjoy the day i stay very calm, dont get frustrated, dont try to hard, keep my shot selections very simple, dont try to do to much or be fancy which are all things i did to varying degrees when playing a lot because i was there for the score and nothing else.

Ive found in yesterdays round and in the county champs in 09 which was the last time i played that by doing these things the score takes care of itself.

Sounds like wasting talent to me.
99% of people on here would bite your hand off to play golf at your standard.
If this is how you feel about the game why not just eff off and post on a cycling forum.

I do post on a cycling forum but if i have played golf then i post it here.

I have said this so many times but I have done the whole golf thing in my early 20s.I can play golf to a decent standard whenever i want and thats great but no challenge & just dont have the desire to tread a path ive already walked by trying to get better than SCR again

Cycling gave me that fresh challenge & im enjoying a being on a new journey which includes having my own bike business and brand.

Imagine how you would feel if you got to start your own golf brand, design your own range of clubs & earn your living from your passion.
Im living that dream now but in cycling :D

Dont think anyone can have a go at you. If you dont want to play golf all the time then dont, its simple as that(no matter how good or bad you are). All we can do is wish you luck with your new business and be friendly to you when you do come back from your annual round. :)

Not really sure what the point of your post is tbh ?????

Perhaps just to remind us all that despite giving the game up, you still shot +3, and had a great day........

Call me cynical, but that just smacks a bit of a total big-headed ME ME ME kind of post.
Bit like your 'Signature' too. :D

Alchemy,

I remember your posts from when I just read the forum and wasn't registered and obviously when you were more prolific with your posts.

It's good to hear from you, I personally think it's fantastic that you shot so well. Just my opinion, but it sounds like pure jealousy from the people who are 'pooh-poohing' your post.

Always amazes me how much a forum post can affect a person.

Best of luck with the business x

When I was playing golf i tried to join in the forum, obviously I dont play now so my posts are pretty scarce.

On the very odd occasion I play or am going to play I post it on here.

If id shot a bad score and not picked up a prize I still would have posted about the days events.

Bad feelings on forums is unfortunately part of the beast but thankfully only a very small part in this one.

As it happens I have been invited to play in a mixed invitation at Hillside next month...probably wont play but Hillside is a top 50 course and my partner is a beauty so may have to have a rethink...

My golf business is established now and doing well so hopefully the bike business will do the same!!!

Thanks to the people who remember me and for the good wishes.

Keep yer heads down and hit to 2 O Clock ;)
