Hi

Does anyone have any info about what each handicap would average score over the course of a season.
For example, would a 6 hc average 6 over or more like 9/10 over par?

I have searched the net and can't find any info. Hoping some of you guys on here that are on hc committees may have some info.

Thanks

As it happens I have just had my playing record for this year printed off so I can take it to my new club......

29 competition rounds played over the year.

High score of 81

Low score of 69

Average for the year = 76.03

An 81!!!! Your standards are slipping buddy or was it blowing a gale ;)

...oh how I long for a season end with a high score of 81!!!

I am definitely way above my handicap in comps as a rise from 11 to 13 would indicate. Not sure what my exact gross average is but its not going to be pretty. Given that most handicappers are expected to play to it 1 in 4 times in comps I would have thought most golfers would be averagging above. Obviously those with brand new handicaps or higher ones who have had good seasons and enjoyed big cuts will buck this and probably be lower but overall I'd say we'll be higher

That's my complete record so courses from all over - the away tracks set up for scratch events (look at me softening the blow!!!)
Average par worked out to 70.2
CSS was average of 71.6

i don't think there would be an average score for a certain handicap.you could shoot high scores often but only go up .1 but shoot a few lower scores which cut you a bit but your average would still be higher.

my average this year averaged just over +7 to par and i never really had any low scores,i had a few high ones...+10,+11 and my lowest was +3.i had loads of +5 and +6's.

My average was 81 out of 19 competitions. Par70, SSS normally between 71/72

It is a links course and when it blows i struggle to score so have to make my score when it is benign.

I've heard your stroke average should be around 2 shots higher than your handicap - not sure how educated a statement that is though but reading responses on here so far its not that far off?

Well that system is pretty close to working for me aswell as my average over par this year is +6.65 (scoring avg of 76.92) with my lowest score being 68 (-4 under) and my highest being 86 (+14 over)....

Not an answer but stats from CONGU which might throw a bit of light.

The expectation of achieving SSS +2 or better in normal playing conditions is:

Cat 1 - between 37 and 68% of competitors
Cat 3 - between 16 and 30 % of competitors.

I think the fact that there is a 3-shot buffer pretty much sums it up. You are expected to play within 3 shots of your handicap most of the time or you will go up 0.1

The 3 shot buffer is only for cat3 players, as your catogory changes so does your buffer.

Cat 1 = 1 shot buffer

Cat 2 = 2 shot buffer etc

I can't seem to get on HDID at the moment, but if you look on there on the stats page it will give you your average for all comps you entered on the system.
