Any links to it 🤔
Woke up just in time to hear the result. Didn't see any of it though.
A schooling and a late stoppage. Who would have thought that?
Absolutely battered. McGregor is so bad, for someone who says he's going to take over the sport he really is shocking.
I await all the moral victory comments now.
So bad yet landed more shots at a better percentage on Floyd than Canelo and De La Hoya. He got beat, as he was expected to, but he's not that bad, he gave Floyd a good fight. His use of the jab, his foot movement was really good. Floyd even admitted he was a lot better than he expected. Conor just got tired, until he fatigued it was very competitive.
Floyd was hurt twice in the fight. He was hurt by a shot early (can't remember the round) and by a body shot in the 9th, not like Conor didn't land anything. Floyd just turned on the aggression once Conor fatigued and closed the contest superbly, until that point it was a very even contest. Floyd didn't outclass Conor like you said he would, it was very competitive, especially in the early rounds. Fact is, he landed at a better percentage than Canelo and De La Hoya, he landed more punches than Berto and Pacquiao. Conor's no mug and he proved that last night, the dude can fight. He got beaten by Floyd, but unless he landed a huge shot early that was always going to be the result. He was a HELL of a lot more competitive than any boxing guys thought he would.
Also, forget everything about how good Conor is or isn't, this fight was superb. Mayweather fights are typically boring as anything but this was a superb fight, exciting throughout and utterly intriguing. Certainly lived up to the hype. Really enjoyed it. Loved the build-up and enjoyed the fight even more.
Just listened to it on on Radio 5 Live SE on playback, sounded a cracking fight.
Usual boxing snobs with their "told you so" attitudesI'd rather listen to the opinions of the experts who rated Conor's efforts very highly, in fact they were stunned how well he did.
Floyd wasn't hurt, not once.
Conor was blowing by the 4th because Mayweather knew he'd not have the stamina. If you think it was remotely competitive then I really have to question your boxing knowledge.
You keep mentioning Canelo and De la Hoya's punch stats but the thing you seem to keep ignoring is Floyd knew they were dangerous punchers so didn't let them land on him. With Conor it was a different story. Dress it up any way you wish but that is a fact. Conor might be able to fight but he certainly can't box.
The fight was hardly superb. All I saw was a 40 year old man beating up a much younger, bigger man who was flawed in every aspect. The fact he gassed to quickly shows he either crashed the weight or had a poor camp. Either is unacceptable when you're charging people to watch you box.
I'm seeing a lot of Conor/MMA fans going back on what they said on here and social media. Only have to read this thread from the start.
Conor wasn't blowing by the 4th. He gassed towards the end of 8.
Conor won the first 3 rounds and I gave him the 8th, it was competitive. Take your Boxing goggles off and watch the fight objectively.
You don't think Floyd thought Conor was remotely dangerous? Conor's only chance was to land a big punch, he's known for his KO power, if you don't think Floyd saw Conor as a dangerous puncher you're deluded. That uppercut he landed in the first was a superb counter punch that Floyd didn't see coming. Conor can box.
Floyd won 5 maybe 6 rounds, and only beat Conor up from the body shot Conor landed in 9 to the end. Until then it was very even.
Conor worked incredibly hard and had a superb weight cut, it's a mental issue. He fatigued in the Diaz 2 fight and the result was very similar, but he got through it and came out stronger. Unfortunately the ref didn't give him chance to get through it.
I jokingly said Conor would smash him, but admitted multiple times I expected Floyd to win. Conor surprised me though, it was WAY more competitive a boxing match than I thought it would be. I thought his only chance would be to make it a clinch dirty boxing scrap but he won rounds early on Boxing Floyd. He did very well and proved he can box. The fact you can't admit it is hilarious.
